WelshCorgi Posted April 19, 2019 Share Posted April 19, 2019 Non-US Univ ranked Top 2 in Korea Major: Econ ; Minor: Math GPA : 3.95/4.5 Major : 4.1/4.5 Relevant Coursework: Econometrics I,II Macroeconomics Dynamics, Game Theory, Financial economics Analysis I,II, Topology I, Mathematical Statistics, Probability, Calculus I,II, Differential Equations, Linear Algebra I,II Work Exp.: 6 months at an Asian global IB (Equity Research) 3 months at one of the major BBs (Credit Risk) Research Exp.: One paper (undergrad level) on derivatives One paper (undergrad level) on exchange rates Recom. Letters: 2-3 good ones ready from econ profs, and planning one extra from industry personnel. How do you guys think would work out? I heard Phd Finance is a bit different from econ. I am pretty sure I had someone in my accounting cohort from your same Uni, so there is probably history. Overall, it looks like you have all of the basic boxes checked, but there is a lot of noise in the process, so I would apply widely in the top 50. The ones who took Masters from top US schools have placed in some decent schools in US and UK. Anyways thank you for your advice!
