    Thanks for the posting!
Just curious... did the HBS micro-OB rejection come from the POI directly & privately? or is it presumption? coz it appeared that my friend finished second round of interviews not long ago....

Re: 2020 PhD Applicant Sweat Thread

i did my interview with this school in early january. After a week, the professor sent me an email saying that they had "favorably evaluated" my application and will extend offers sometimes in february and they wanted me to let them know if I hear from other schools. I followed up with him last week and he said that they will start getting together with other areas and extend offers. I haven't heard from him since then, but I just saw a gradcafe result that someone was accepted. I thought I would get an offer because of the word "favorably".... was I mislead? I am super bummed and worried right now.....

That's unfortunate that they got your hopes up. You can't always trust GradCafe, but you also can't always rely on interviewer feedback. I think it's just the personality of some people to be complimentary, and often they do genuinely think you did a great job. But there are a lot of applicants who do a great job and aren't accepted. It's simply the nature of PhD admissions that they will have far more qualified applicants than they can accept. Point being, you probably were favorably evaluated and did very well in the interview. But it's still very hard to say if you will get an offer. You'll just have to deal with uncertainty a bit longer.

Still haven't heard anything from Columbia. I think at this point I should call them and ask, as I really want to settle on a school soon. Has anyone heard back from CMU?
