Hi, I'm interested in applying for Econ PhD programs after getting a masters degree. I switched to econ quite late in the game and so have some math / econ courses that I need to take in order to be competitive.

Below are some masters programs that I've been considering. I'd appreciate your thoughts on which program is best as a stepping stone to PhD (assuming for now that I can get into all).

- Chicago masters in economics. I hear that this program is relatively new.
-
LSE 1 year economics masters
- LSE EME
-
Oxford masters (2 years)
- Cambridge
- UCL
- Yale IDE masters
- Columbia masters
- Duke

Which in your view is best for PhD preparation? My impression from reading earlier posts is that the first four are all great and comparable programs. Are there reasons to consider the last five listed if we get into any of the first four?

Thanks in advance.
