PhD Micro Grade Distribution at T30

    Sponsored Ad:
I'm currently taking first year PhD courses at a T30 program as an undergrad; with that said, the grade distribution of PhD Micro 1 is very rough. In my department 15% or less get 4.0's(A) while the majority get 3.0's(B). Do schools take this kind of grade distribution into consideration?

Admission committees may well not know the grade distribution in another department. It may be something you want mentioned in a letter or personal statement.

Regardless of the percentage, adcoms still want to see a 4.0 if I’m correct?

That is an especially harsh grade distribution for a PhD course, and it's unlikely that adcoms at other universities are (broadly) aware of it.

No. If you're taking a PhD course as a T30 they want to see that you did well compared to the PhD students. Doesn't have to be a 4.0.

I agree with this. I'd add that you may want to have reference letters from some of the professors from these classes. You want letters from people who are best positioned to comment on your ability to succeed in graduate school.

I want to see an A from that class.
