I applied to masters, not PhDs, but I just got my first rejection from Bocconi ESS

And I thought this was going to be one of my safeties... I guess at the end of the day this was an experiment to see if I could switch from IR to econ through grad school, and it seems like the answer is not really.

There's a lot of noise and randomness in grad school admissions and I think it's super possible to get rejected from a "safety" (almost no such thing, right?) and then get into a school you thought would be more competitive. head up!

Has anyone else received an interview request for UC Santa Cruz? Not sure what to make of it because I'm not an international student and many people have said it's typically for internationals only. Is this a standard step in the process?

Looking like Stanford has released their first acceptances on GC. Any indication that they're taking a "two-wave" approach to admissions (similar to last year) or is it more likely that all acceptances have now been released?

From the looks of the latest GC waitlist post, it seems like this might be it.

For context, the person said: "They sent a letter saying that they admitted significantly fewer and waitlisted significantly more students than usual, to be conservative."

Has anyone received a rejection yet? I got an email from them but don't have a decision yet. Does this mean a rejection?

I've received the same message as well. Nothing posted in the portal yet, but agree that this looks like an IR.

Well, fellas, it's official. First rejection of (probably) many this application season. Stanford's applyweb had my rejection letter ready when I looked again just now. The next school that I applied to that sends out decisions is Ohio State, and that one feels less like a longshot. May your anxious checking of gradcafe bring more joy than mine has today!
