  7. "Colleges should require students to engage in public-service activities in order to assure that each student receives a balanced, well-rounded education." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A child starts with learning alphabets, sounds, counting etc in kindergarten, little does he knows whats stored for him from kindergarten to collge..But is this only that he needs to study?I think no .Education in school and colleges is only a part of learning stage. Acccording to me learning period for any person is not limited. With each new day there is new lesson to be learnt .For a student only means of achieving this is by being more interactive to outsideworld.By interacting i mean he can participate in various public activitieslike helping old aged peopleor disabled people. There are so many things that are learnt only by experience. One cant teach values ,cultures, love and affection etc through booksor lecture .According to me for many students public service activities cab give them so many invaluable moral values which can be turning point of their lives. They are brought into terms with what real life can be and how mistakes can rectified by being dogmatic. But by bolstering my thoughts for pulic service activties I would also like to keep it balance with studies. This should also not interfear with studies and should not be a compusion for students. Moreover public sevice activities would also bring a change for students from their regular studies. These activities put them in a different enviorment a new and refreshing enviorment form the regular classroom enviorment.I always belive fresh ideas comes from fresh minds and for fresh a mind you need fresh enviorment. It can realy be a small preview of various shades of life. pls be honest and give me my negative points :)

  9. The following appeared in a medical newsletter. "Doctors have long suspected that secondary infections may keep some patients fromhealing quickly after severe muscle strain. This hypothesis has now been proved bypreliminary results of a study of two groups of patients. The first group of patients, all being treated for muscle injuries by Dr. Newland, a doctor who specializes in sports medicine, took antibiotics regularly throughout their treatment. Their recuperation time was, on average, 40 percent quicker than typically expected. Patients in the second group, all being treated by Dr. Alton, a general physician, were given sugar pills, although the patients believed they were taking antibiotics. Their average recuperation time was not significantly reduced. Therefore, all patients who are diagnosed with muscle strain would be well advised to take antibiotics as part of their treatment. " -------------------------------------------------------------------------- In todays fast evolving world people expect every thing to be fast and quick.People hardly have any patience for anything from getting icrements in perks tointernet surfing speed.Medical field too has felt the pressure of quiclky healing the disorders .Given argument convolutes around same theme ie quicker the better. But is it always true? This can vary from person to person. Author has given two scenarios both different in all possible ways. The author could have taken the samples for somewhat similar kind of people if not these.the first case here is of dr Newland who specializes in sport medicine which clearly means he deals more often with sport person than to the common people .sports persons often have a well developed and functional body. They are they are no doubt always in race to keep themselves fit so they need medicines to show results quickly .Hence no doubt people related to sports need antibiotics and advice for taking antibiotics is right. The author in second case has mentioned about general physian Dr Alton .Dr Alton had used sugar pills pretending them to be antibiotics .These sugar pills did show results but took some time or comparatively more time than the antibiotics.Dr Alton being genera; physician comes across the general public mainly .This clearly shows that the infection do heal up naturaly but taking some time. The result might not hav been same had Dr Alton given same sugar pills to a sports person. Author in the end advices the patients to take antibiotic as part of their treatment for muscle strain .This largly depends on patient being treated. If there is no hurry their is no need to take any antibiotics as the the muscle strain will heal naturally.many people do prefer natural healing to as there are no side effects .there have been many cases where people have shown allergy to various antibiotics. So untill a patient needs immediate relief form pain he shouldnt go for antibiotics. be honest and give me the negative points ab my argument :)
