  4. 17) "There are two types of laws: just and unjust. Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and, even more importantly, to disobey and resist unjust laws." Societies nowadays are governed by set of rules called laws. Laws are made in order to ensure stability of the society and to maintain law and order in the society. Every citizen is obliged to obey these laws unconditionally. I completely agree that every individual has responsibility to obey the laws, how ever I am opposed to the second part of the claim that one has responsibly to obey unjust laws. Firstly laws are very important to stability or order in the society. Just imagine a society with out law and order .Living in such a society would be like living in hell. In a society with laws people are aware of their responsibilities and they are aware that wrong doers will receive deserved punishment. Secondly they are very essential for humans to lead life properly. If we go more deep and try to find out what is that which is making people to abide by these laws, we see that it’s the fear of punishment. Just as a child is afraid of punishment so too every man. Thirdly what differentiates a animal from a human being is, humans have the capacity to differentiate between what is right and wrong, good and bad. So when one fails to differentiate from what is right and what is wrong he starts to act like animal .It is at this point of time that laws play their most crucial role. They act as watch dogs. Although some people try to classify laws in to different types i.e. just and unjust laws I strongly feel that such a differentiation should not exist. If such a liberty is given to differentiate laws then the stability of the society would be lost because, each person would try to define and modify the existing laws the way one wants. In sum I concur that laws are very essential to maintain stability in the society and one can not differentiate laws as just and unjust.
