  3. A p.gram is a special type of Quad. Necessary conditions for a Quadrilateral to be considered as a Parallelogram Consider a Quadrilateral ABCD in which AD and BC are opposite sides. AB // CD and AB= CD ; AD // BC and AD=BC Diagonals bisect each other. Sufficient conditions for a Quadrilateral to be considered as a Parallelogram Each pair of opposite sides will be //. One pair of opp. sides is // and equal. Each pair of opp. sides is equal. Each pair of internal opp. angles is equal. Diagonals bisect each other. i hope this should clear all your doubts regarding parellelogram.

  9. i get it as A. let, Girls = 100 boys = 50. if, percentage of girls = 20% ( no of girls = 20 ) then percentage of boys = 10% ( no of boys = 5) [ this assumption works for all % values] total attending the meeting = 25. thus, percentage of boys attending the meeting = 20%
  10. even i think it is (1- sqrt(3)/2). any other answers ?????

  12. 3+ (sq. root of 49) = 3 ± 7 = 10 or -4. 8 + (sq. root of 9). = 8 ± 3 = 11 or 5. so the answer has got to be D. is my approach correct?
  13. hi ritesh, i found this thread in this forum. hope twill be of some help to you. please remember that the score does not depend on the number of questions answered correctly '' The following table may be of use in understanding how the CAT works. The example is for the verbal section but is valid for other sections also if the number of questions in each section is taken into account and the table read correspondingly. Scoring Scale 200 – 800 1st 6 Q correct Next 12 Q correct Next 12 Q wrong- 580 1st 6 Q correct Next 12 Q wrong Next 12 Q correct- 400 1st 6 Q wrong Next 24 Q correct Next 12 Q corre- 400 1st 6 Q correct Next 24 Q wrong Next 12 Q corre- 200 1st 6 Q wrong Next 12 Q correct Next 12 Q wrong- 300 1st 6 Q wrong Next 12 Q wrong Next 12 Q correct- 300 1st 6 Q RWRWRW all questions follow this pattern- 560 1st 6 Q WRWRWR all questions follow this pattern- 360 Try to reach the questions of higher degree of difficulty by doing the first one fifth very carefully. Once you reach questions of this degree of difficulty and you make a few mistakes the computer will give you a few less difficult questions. If you answer them correctly the computer goes back to questions of higher difficulty. In contrast once the computer decides on the basis of the first few questions answered that you are to be given a series of moderately difficult or easy questions it is difficult to reach questions of higher difficulty and score as many marks as you might have if you had reached the higher difficulty questions earlier. Note that you may answer as many as 9 Questions correct and still obtain a score of 200 (0); that you may answer 21 correct and receive a score of 410; that you may answer only 16 Questions correct and score 540; and that you may answer 22 Questions correct and receives a score of 710 out of 800. This clearly shows that the score does not depend on the number of questions answered correctly."
  14. QC. A 3+ (sq. root of 49) B 8 + (sq. root of 9). I am sure that the ans is D. but the book says it is B. which one is correct?
  15. salaam namaste e'one, let one number be a. and its reverse be b. then, (a^2-b^2) = (a+b)(a-b). wkt, sum of a no. and its reverse is always div. by 11. diff. of a no. and its reverse is always divisible by 9. ( Try for yourself) and the only condition thats not satisfied is E.
  16. If the square of a two digit number is decreased by the square of the number formed by reversing the digits, then the result is not always divisible by.. A ) sum of the numbers. B ) difference of the numbers. C ) 9. D ) 11. E ) product of the numbers.

    I agree with Amberuet. mauveÄster, m^2=n^2 ±m=±n. consider this. (-6)^2 = (6)^2. but this dosnt mean that -6=6. the correct way of rep. it wud be this ±(-6)=±(6).

    but does the Q not imply that both 7 and 5 cent stamps? in this case would the answer not be B?

    hi wydiwyg, feels good to be re-united with the forum. as for the question, the ten's digit is 2. let the 3 digit no. be k = xyz. (given z =! 0) when we add 9 to this irrespective of the value of z (from 1 to 9) we get a carry of 1. (1+y =3) ==> y=2. also when we add 4, it is understood that there is no carry. thus y = 2.
  20. see if this helps... Area = [ r^2 * (root3/8) ]. angle AOC = ang BOD = 60 degrees ( ==> ang OAC = 30 degrees) and OA = r. wkt., OA/sin90 = AC/sin60 = OC/sin30. OA/sin90 = AC/sin60 ==> r/1 = AC/(root3/2) or, AC = r*(root3/2) OA/sin90 = OC/sin30 ==> r/1 = AC/2 or, AC = r/2. thus area = 1/2 * AC * OC = 1/2 * r/2 * r*(root3/2) = r^2 * (root3/8).
