  1. Hi All, I am just curious to know about preparation books from Kaplan. I found several postings which mentioned Kaplan's Q bank, Kaplan note. And I am very confused with them. What are they? I found two Kaplan's books at Amazon 1) Kaplan NAPLEX Review: The Complete Guide to Licensing Exam Certification for Pharmacists (Kaplan NAPLEX Review: The Complete Guide to Licensing Exam) (Paperback) ISBN-10: 1427795762 2)Kaplan Medical NAPLEX Lecture Notes , which seems not currently available. Are these the things that people are talking about? When I went to Kaplan's website, i found Q bank. But It looks like an one-line book with a limited period of right to access to the website. Is this the one? I also found some people are selling Kaplan's Q bank, but I was wondering How to sell it? I found someone said that their chart and their explanation to each question was very helpful. Moreover their drug info is enough for the Naplex. I was wondering if I have to printed out every pages from the website (if I want it in my hand) when I purcahse Q bank Online. Could anybody tell me how it works? or is there a printed version available? Thanks,
  2. I was just wondering if I can take the NAPLEX in ohter state. For example, If I am plannign to be a pharmacist in FL but taking a NAPLEX at a testing center in Washington state. Is that possible?
  3. Hi I have a question about that. When they sent me a letter saying assignment #5 is incomplete. I immidiately sent the preceptor assignment evaluation (form2 on page 12) with my preceptor's signiture and comments. Then they send the form back with another letter, which is saying " the Foreign graduate's report for each assigment must be two(2) pages, double-spaced and typed using font size 10 or 12. These assignment will help to develop wrttien professional communication skills----" and this part was highlited with a yellow marker. Basically I got two letters and I was totally confused. The one you had sent was the form2 the preceptor assignment evaluation on page 12? By the way I do not think you need to send a proof. I think you only need your preceptors sign. (my preceptor was very careful/nervous, that's all) Thank you
  4. Dear Lionea, Thank you so much for the replay!!! Here is the reason for the rejection and my question. Even though the sample form 5 on page 24 are not required to send back to the board, the manager and I decided to send them. It was hand written because I used the sample form on the page 24 and just filled out. The board returned them to me saying, every assignment has to be typed two pages and double spaced. I called back to the board, she said I had to type out. The lady was very firm and strict. I was not sure what she wanted. She replyed that I had to talk to my procepter to decide what the paper would be like.... My preceptor was also confused and he said I should type out as close to as I filled the form on page 24. I started to type for the ten drugs again. but Double spaced, it's going to be like 20 pages....It won't fit in two pages....it is impossible. Am I on the right truck? They returned it about two weeks later than we originally sent them in.... Please reply and give me the advice on it. Thank you,
  5. Hi All, Does anybody know about the core assignment #5 for foreign graduate intern in Florida state? Please reply and guide me what to do. I have completed for 2080 hours of internship in Florida. My preceptor and I submitted a document (paycheck slips) to prove my hours. I also complete all the assignments that were required by the state. However, Recently I received a letter from the state board, which rejects the assignment #5. They also returned all the document of 2080 hours, which means they have not filed any documents for me yet. It was a hard work for almost a year to complete. I do not want to lose my hours. Please help me. Thank you
  6. Hi All, I am an international student and I am doing the internship in Florida. However, I did not get H1b this year through my work, I have to leave the United States. I realized that getting a H1b would not be easy so I am thinking to apply as many states as possible and get lisences to keep the opportunity open. Is that possible? I would like to know which states take Out-OF-State intern hours and allow me to take NAPLEX and MPJE? I called NJ board of Pharmacy and they said no. I checked with Alizona state and it says that I have to have a citizenship or work permission to take NAPLEX. I would appreciate your reply.
  7. HI Ranirani, I am not sure how I can respond to you for your predicament! Anyway, COngratulations on your success in the speaking section. I hope the rescoring will work the best for you. I would like you to share your experience for the speaking section. I have received a 24 as it was the best score I have ever received. I have practiced it with Longman, Kaplan, Prinstone and Barrons. I don't know what to do to score over 26. Again I keep my fingers cross for you. NGUMD
  8. Congratulations on your great mark! I would like to know more detailed tips on the speaking section. I have received a good in the Independent section but almost alway marked fairs in the rest of the questions. I ended up with a score of 24. This causes me a great amount of stress and confusion. I think I understand the listening part and reading material very well. I am very frustrated. Please share your experience and suggestions on the speaking section! Thank you
  9. Hi All, I would like those who got Goods in the intergrated tasks to share your experiences. What makes the differences between fair and good? I always get fair in the Intergrated tasks. (question 3 through 6). I need your help on the speaking section. When I got a good in the independent section, I give a lot of details to support my opinion. However, In the integrated tasks, we all basically have the same infomation, and points the professors make are very clear. So my question is the answer would be similar from one test taker to another test taker. I usually covered what I heard and read from the given materials. I just don't know what makes it improve from fair to good. Please give me some tips to boost my score. Thank you.
  10. Congratulations. Great scores. Thank you for the advice. I am struggling with the speaking section. I was wondering if you completed all the tasks within the time allotted?
  11. Thank you for sharing your experience. After knowing your story, I felt I should not take count too much of the ETS. You got what you deserve. Congratulations!
  12. COngratultions, You got what you wanted after rescoring. I was amazed that you got 4 points up! Did they charge you for that, even your score has been changed? How does rescoring work? Please share your feeing how you could be so sure that you did very well. I feel I did very well (I got 22 where I need 26.), but I analyzed my answers rationally, I didn't finish some of the questions. Now I got scared because for me, requesting rescoreing seems like that I am accusing them. Thank you.
  13. Thank you for sharing. Now I was really curious how they calculate the score. Because I got 22 in the speaking section, which disappointed me a lot. My break down scores were Good, Fair, fair. Fair, fair, fair=23. Good, Fair, fair=22?
  14. Dear Takku, I am sorry to hear tha you are frustrated. Could you give me break down scores ( good/fair/limited) in speaking and writing?

    Question

Hi, This forum is interesting and very helpful. I am also started to look at questions for Naplex. I don't think Carbamazepine follows linear. The thing is Carbamazepine is mostly eliminated by hepatic metabolism. it should be reduced in the liver dysfanction by 25-50% (Child-pugh greater than 8). It binds AGG. It may cause hematologic adverse effects. Leycopenia and agranulocytosis. Becuse of the autoinduction, a patient should be given 1/4 to 1/3 the disired dose first. then gradually increase the dosage every 2-3weeks. An inject form of Carbamazepine is not available. Hope this helps.
  16. Dear Brunorafaelli, I have a question regarding #1 and #2. Since I have been practicing for the TSE, which allowed me to anwer questions like #1 and #2 within 60 sec, I am always runnung out of time in the new TOEFL. I n the TSE, I always summarized by saying "Therefore I prefer xxx." or " these are some of the characteristics of being a good teacher,,," But I don't have enough time in the TOEFL. Don't I summarize? or I should shorten the contents and put a summary? I was told that it is important to include my personal experiences. hoewver I always have a time conflict. Thank you for your advice. NGUMD

    Tense

Thank you Knok for your advise, and Congrats on your remarkable score!!! I try to stick to the present tense, then. However, in terms of accuracy of pronounciation, I am more comfortable with the -ed sound than the -s sound....:hmm: That's what I need to practice on! Ngumd
  18. Hi Testprep and other members, I am interested in joining the preparation group. I am also preparing for the TOEFL iBT. I have been practicing it however, I am stuck in the speaking section. I would like to have some suggestions on how I could improve the skills. Thank you, NGUMD

    Tense

Hi, All. I have a question about Integrated tasks, question 3 through 6. Which tense( past or present ) is appropriate to use? I realized that most of the study guides which I use use the present tense. However, I used the past tense. Ex) The professor discussed,,, The woman said that,,, As I practiced with the study guides, I started to mix them, which I should really stop. I was curious how other test takers answer. How much the raters care about grammar? Thanks
  20. Thank you for the advice. Rpt2be and Testprep. I was frustrated with the test. I think the advice you gave me is very helpful. imagining myself talking on the phone is a good idea because when I talk with my friend, I don't speak English as rigid as I response to the questions. By the way,Is there anyone who have listened to sample answers in Barron's ibt TOEFL? What do you think about it? I think they are native speakers. Even though they intentionally stumbled in the sample answer, they speak very fluently and articulately. I read the sample answers aloud in Barron's ibt TOEFL. Even the answers were there and I just read them, I could not finish reading within the time allotted. Is it normal or am I slow? I appreciate it if you give me some advice. Thank you.
  21. Dear all, I would like to have some opinions and advice. I think I speak a bit slow especially when I answer to questions like TOEFL. I think I can speed up my speech on Question 1 and 2 because those don't require the accuracy of contents. I mean these are based on my own experience and there would not be right or wrong answers. However, For the rest of questons I could hardly finish my response within the time alloted. Sometimes I pause a bit long, or say "Uh". If I answer this kind of question in my first language, I would probably pause. I think this is my way of speaking. What does make it high-level and mid-level? How can I speed up my speech. How can I manage this problem? I am a bit frustrated. Thanks NGUMD
  22. I have a question about question no. 3 and 4 in the speaking section. Can we go back to the short passages after listening to a conversation or a lecture? Can we go back to the passage during 30sec preparation time? Taking notes is allowed however, I took the whole time allotted to read the passage and no time for taking notes. How do you manage on this section? I got so nervouse about this test. I would appreciate it if I could have advice from you. Thank you
  23. Dear Friends, I submitted my concern about the testing center to the ETS and ask them about the test center changes. I got two replies. One was so mean and not supportive. However this one looked so helpful. Other candidates who will take the testing center, it will be fine. This customer representative also gave me detailed information of a test center in WA. Regarding your inquiry: We have forwarded your comments about your assigned test center for June 2 (#X330 - East Los Angeles College) to Test Administration Services for review. As stated in the Bulletin, you should take the test at the center printed on your admission ticket. TOEFL/TSE Services will not make changes to your assigned test center. If you cannot take the test at your assigned center, you may go to another center on the same date. There is no guarantee that space or test materials will be available for you to take the test. Do not telephone or go to the test center before the day of the test because they will not have the information necessary to assist you. You should report to the test center thirty minutes prior to the reporting time on your admission ticket. Admission is on a first come, first served basis. If space and test materials are available at the new test center, the test center administrator may permit you to take the test. You must take your admission ticket, the required identification, and a completed photo file record with you. If you are admitted to the new test center, you must change the test center number that is printed on your admission ticket and photo file record, and give the ticket to the test center supervisor on the day of the test. If you are not admitted, follow the directions under "Rescheduling and Canceling" (TSE) in the TSE Bulletin. Cash refunds are not available. NOTE: As you know, the June 2 test is the last TSE administration in the United States. We wish you continuing success in your academic endeavors.
  24. Thank you for the reply. I am hopless. This morning I called the customer center, a representative told me I should not change a place. There will be no galantees and nor a refund. Actually I am in Washington state and the testing center was full. The representative told me if it was full, no room for me. There is no way to see if the testing center is full or an extra copy for me until I show up on that morning, isn't there?
  25. Hi, I became so nervous after obtaining the information about the testing center, since I've never been to LA in addition the testing center looks like the worst place to take the test. I called the ETS and told one of the receptors my concern about the proctors. Then he gave me the mailing address and the fax number. What he said was just submiting a complaint to the ETS admission center. ( Isn't it funny? I am hesitating a little bit what I should complain about, since I haven't taken the TSE there yet.) However, I am going to send a letter. Yes I will bring ear plugs, too. It will be the last chance to me, I might be super lucky in an opposit direction! Thank you, friends.
