  1. hey guys I got in, I am still waiting on UVA/HBS/NW/MIT but glad to have some security now!!!!
  2. if you got a call it means you got in in my opinion. I don't think they call with bad news...
  3. hey guys, just wanted to let you all know I got into Cornell . I am still waiting on UVA, HBS, NW, MIT.
  4. study OG11, OG10, the OG supplement books, SETS 21-31, gmatprep over and over again, and I feel you should gain at least 50-100 pts on your score. Also use manhattan gmat SC book.
  5. cooldude, I suggest you reschedule your test if you are not ready. I used to have trouble finishing verbal also. Through tons of practice I now can finish the section 10 mins early. Don't rush into the test, take it when you are officially ready. If you do decide to take it tomorrow. Stay calm today, have fun, hang out with friends and just laugh a lot. It's good to be calm the night before and get a good nights rest.
  6. I think you have a good shot, your background and your comeback story make you an intriguing candidate.
  7. i think even with 2 hrs per day on a weekday and 3-4 per weekend day you can do well. It's all about quality and not quantity. When i first started studying I focused on hours and not much on material. When I changed to type of material regardless of time spent is when my score really went up. Yes indians do work hard, but remember it is life or death for many of them. When doing well academically determines if you have food on the table and can support a family of course you work harder.
  8. Tbay, I read that you recommend the powerscore CR bible. is this book mainly training or are there many practice problems? I am looking for something with strong problems and explanations. Your input would be appreciated. thanks.
  9. Tbay your awesome man and a true inspiration. I am gonna give it one more shot. While doing bellcurves were you also doing math problems on the TM site? Or do you feel if I focus on bellcurves and also do other practice tests like mgmat that I am okay? thanks bro....
  10. i used the lsat 10 book that you can buy from amazon...i only did about 15 passages out of it, but the difficulty makes you set the bar high. THe RC i saw on the test were as difficult as the LSAT passages. I did notice that I always finish verbal 10 mins. early so I decided to spend more time on the passage. Also stay calm during RC. If your nervous it's tough to comprehend. I have been studying now for about 4-5 months, taken the test twice. I am retaking in Sept. a final time....
  11. TBAY, thanks for your valuable input. I just signed up for bellcurves. Do you also recommend the verbal portion of the bellcurves prep material? Thanks.
  12. amazing score, congrats! can you please detail the quant portion of the exam in terms of your prep and the difficulty you saw compared to your prep material?
  13. Great score, can you please detail your quant prep and also the difficulty you saw? I am really struggling with the quant portion of the test....
  14. ekamel, one thing that helped me quite a bit were the LSAT RC passages. I also improved my speed on CR/SC and was able to read each passage critically twice during the test. I ended up scoring V40 90 percent on the test.....
  15. tbay, congrats on the great improvement. Can you please tell me more about bellcurves? I am struggling to improve my math. Does the site have many tough problems and also build your speed? Do the problems prepare you for the problems on the actual Gmat? Are they quite similar in wording and function? Thanks man appreciate it.
  16. Thanks Gmatbong do you think I should retake the test? If I retake I will miss the 1st round, which from your other post seems to not be a big deal. Based on my profile what schools would you suggest I target? I am really interested in the NW MMM manufacturing dual degree and MIT's leaders for manufacturing program. Oh forgot to mention I was recently (yesterday) offered project management responsibilities. I think this helps to round out my experience and my career progression is strong for just 3 years here. I am not in the GE program, however our program is based of the GE program. The company I work at Danaher is a well known name in industry, and at HBS, NW, UVA where we recruit heavily from.
  17. Are the chances for admission much higher in the 1st round compared to the 2nd? I was told that it does not make that much of a difference....I don't see how that is logical in that the 2nd round is so much later and the # of apps has to go up significantly. can you please provide your input? thanks.
  18. Forgot to mention. I went to a 15th ranked engineering school here in the US. In calc, econ, statistics, and business classes I had all A's. I mention that as my quant score was low the second time around....
  19. GMATbong please advise of my chances and any programs you think I should shoot for. I am shooting for top 10 schools. I plan on applying to UVA, NW manufacturing/mba program, MIT, maybe HBS, Dartmouth, and UVA. I would like to focus in General Management. I am an indian US citizen with close to 3 years work experience at a large fortune 500 company. I am in a global leadership development program, where I have switched roles every year or so to gain experience in the various facets of the business. The goal of this program is to provide me with a broad experience set so that I can eventually assume a General Manager position running an entire site. My company has strong ties at UVA, NW, and HBS. I will also have strong alumni recs from these schools. Work Experience: Process Engineer, then promoted to Area Manager where I managed a 10 million dollar US business, dealing with Delivery/Quality/Inventory/Productivity on a daily basis. I also had 6 direct reports. This keep in mind was a little after 1.5 years at the company. This was like running my very own small company, I had to manage costs, delivery, customer expectations, inventory reductions etc. I was then promoted to Business System Manager: I was based out of Israel gaining International experience for this role. I was responsible for operational excellence for a 30 million dollar global business. My goals were to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and drive operational/manufacturing improvement. I had ~70 associates that I was responsible for in terms of development around lean manufacturing and efficiency improvement. I had stellar results in this role. The president of our company specifically sent me to Israel to fix the problems at the Israeli site I just switched roles into a Quality and Business System Leader. My responsibilities are around driving quality and development of a new global project. This is a development role for me to learn about the product development and marketing side of the business. College GPA: 3.5 overall (3.75 my last 2 years) President of Electrical and Computer Engineering Society (The chapter closed at our university and I helped lead the charge of resurrecting the program) Vice President of company ran by professors in college (I went from team member to team leader, to leading multiple teams, and finally asked to assume the role of student VP in my senior year). I had around 30 junior/senior engineers I was responsible for. I also led classes and organized key speakers. I was involved with this company for my junior and senior year. Volunteer work: I worked at homeless/distrubution center for 7 months while I was stationed in Israel. I felt I could do more so I created a volunteer/donation program at work. I had many volunteers from work and raised quite a bit of money, food, and other donations. I led collecting and then distributing the food/donations from work. I also convinced our president to provide a monthly donation for this program and raised over $2k my first month of the program. My program is still running strong at the Israeli. Other than that I have had minor volunteer activities at the salvation army. GMAT: 670 Q42, V40 (2nd time) 660 Q46, V35 AWA 6 Do you think I need to retake the gmat to get into a top 10 school based on my experience? I do feel I can hit Q46 and V40 on the same test, which would be around a 710. I know that UVA and Dartmouth take the best section score from each test, which would put me to a 710 or so. Do you know any other top schools that take your best from each section? I hired an admissions consultant. She was the senior director of admissions at NYU and has reviewed thousands of applications. I am using her to help me put together a strong overall application. I would appreciate your input.
  20. thanks man, excellent score, I would focus on the app process unless you think you can clear 750...from what I have heard 720-750 is all the same.
  21. gmat, great score, I am not sure if you need a retake. Are you from an IT background? gmat is only a small piece to the overall process. could you please detail the difficulty of the real gmat to gmatprep? I have my test tomorrow and would appreciate your input. Also what did you practice scores look like?
  22. please debrief the difficulty of the math section compared to gmatprep and how you prepared for it, it's a solid score for math. I would start with Manhattangmat SC for verbal....
  23. can you detail your profile and your app strategy...chicago is a tough school to get into CONGRATS!!!
  24. congrats bro for the strong finish...i have my test at the end of the month, do you feel the material was much tougher this time from last? I scored 660 first time around, and I really need 700 to realistically consider some of the schools i am targetting. what would you recommend?
  25. what were the comprehensive docs you got from max? is this just the 95?
