  15. Hi, for this kind of problems if we arent able to frame an equation in a few seconds after reading the question IMO its better to go ahead taking each of the options that are given. In this problem we are told that Alice saves a fraction of her salary and that saved amount is 3 times the amount that she didnt save (here in lies the trap) lets assume Alice 's salary is 100 and she saves a fraction of it each month. from, 1) 1/2 that is her salary is 100 and saved amount = 50 but the total amount she saved at the end of the year = 3 * the monthly amount she didnt save, so 50*12 = 600 should be 3 times the amount that she didnt save. That is 50*3 should have been equal to 600 which is incorrect and hence option 1 isnt the answer. similarly option 2 and 3 coming to option 4, here Alice saved 1/5th of her salary, so out of her 100 she saved 1/5th which is 20 at the end of the year her total savings were 12*20 = 240 and this should be equal to 3 times the amount that she didnt save every month, that is 240 = 3 * 80 (as she saved only 20 every month) which is correct and hence the answer. regards.
  16. this is easy if we understand the question, well as we have a sequence t1,t2,t3....tn and also we are given, tn = tn-1 -3 and t1 = 23 so t2 = t2-1 -3 = t1 -3 = 23-3 = 20 t3 = t2-1 -3 = 20 - 3 = 17 (since we already have the value of t2 as 20 from the previous operation) t4 = t3-1 -3 = 17-3 = 14 t5 = t4-1 -3 = 14-3 = 11 similarly, t6 = 8 t7 = 5 t8 = 2 t9 = -1 and t10 = -4 and hence the answer. hope this helps, regards.

  19. Hey mydreamGMAT, so sorry to know about the way the test went. You were doing so well on the forum, im sure you would do well in the next attempt now that you have seen the worst. My best wishes are with you and this time give it the BEST shot you can. Believe me all the debrief posts that i have read i noticed that all the guys who have done well have done so because of their confidence and i think that alone plays a crucial role in getting a 650 or a 750. Im sure you would be in the 750 range this time. All the best buddy.
