  2. I guess I should also start exercising and using sunblock befora I look older than 30!!!...
  3. mbacandidate, I understand that most british b-schools only recognize the IELTS as a proof of your english proficency. Yeah, you should check with Oxford directly. By the way, how old are you ? regards, Talan
  4. Thank you GMATbong for your reply. Yeah, I heard that I would be too old for H or S. I just checked the average age in UCLA and its 28. My third choice is UC Irvine, and the average age of the class there is 29. So I guess I am not that old.
  5. Hi dilipcrangan, I will be applying to UCLA-Anderson too, but I prefer the full time program. My data: GMAT: 650 GPA: 3.0 Experience: 8 yrs in finance Are you applying to the FEMBA option ? REgards, Talan
  6. Hi Everybody, Yesterday was my 30th birthday and...well I am wondering if I would be the oldest of my class or if the admissions comitee will think I am too old for beggining a Master's degree... What do you think? I will be applying to UCLA and USC. How old are you guys? Anyone over 30yrs ??? Thanks for your comments.
  7. Thank you everybody for posting, I could not understand this problem either!!... Also I think the OG 10th edition explanation is not very clear...... I have a question... How do we know that the opposite angle QPX is a 70º angle??.. Is this because we have the 35º angle and the opposite will be 35º x 2 = 70º ? is this a geometry rule o is there a formula? Thanks for your comments! Talan
  8. Hi Haddy. I liked you essay. Very well organized. My sugestion is that it is better to take only a side of the issue...not "arguing the opposite"...Other that that...very good job!
  9. As long as you do not get confused....go ahead. As for me, I do not involve my personal opinion on the issue... I just take a side as clearly as possible, and try to find the best arguments out of it....
  10. Wow iknownoone....Here are my comments on your essay: First, you used a very formal language...very impressive...(are you british?)... This makes the essay, from my point of view, very compelling. Great wording. Congratulations. Also you essay's pharagraphs are very well ordered... your ideas, introduction, argumentation and conclusion. Good job for the specific example of EMC Corporation. Here's what I suggest to improve your essay: 1. I got a little confused with your first sentence. Too many commas (run on sentence). You can easily correct this by ending the sentence in "...is a controversial one." and then you can save the following "...holding considerable importance in the current era of businesses fraught with severe competition." for the conclusion. This would make more clear your introduction. 2. I would add another reason to support your reasoning. Usually, the final reason should be the strongest one. Overall.... congratulations... very good job! ----> 5
  11. Yes 15/16 is the correct answer. So, I will consider the probability of an event NOT happening the same as the probability of happening "at least one time". Thanks!
  12. Hi Bungholio, I believe somebody posted parts of the OG sometime ago. Have you searched for that inhere?...
  13. Yes shankara... correct answer is 15/16.. How did you do it?
  14. A six-sided die with faces numbered one through six is rolled twice. What is the probability that the face with the number 2 on it will NOT be facing upward on either roll? What I did was: (Prob. of happening on the first roll - 1 ) * (prob. of hap. on the second roll - 1) = (1/6-1) * (1/6 - 1) = 25 / 36 BUT... the answer is 35 / 36. The PR book says: (1/6 * 1/6 ) = 1/36 - 1 = 35/36 why???? I just did it the reverse way, I first substract 1 and then multiplied the probabilities....why I cannot do it this way???? Thank you for your help!
  15. Kevin flips a coin four times. What is the probability that he gets heads on at least one of the four flips? Note: My question is... can somebody explain if the probability that an event happens at least one time is the same than the probability that the event does not happen at all??.. I'm confused...thank you!

    Hi There

Hey Deepak, Nice to meet you. What is your work field? And Testmagic is a great source for Mat preparation!!!!
  17. Hi Bob, Can you explain how dividing ( k^3+3k^2+3k+1 ) / k you get always 1 ??? Fox example if we plug in k = 5.... thanks.
  18. Ok. This is a ratios problem... I'm not sure but here is how I deal with this problem:(1) Not enough information to solve. Information about people who buy both x & y is missing. So it's, B, C or E. (2) Again, not enough to solve. So it's C or E. Combining the two facts, I got the following: 27 do not buy either x or y. 47 buy newspaper x, 11 buy both x&y, and 15 buy newspaper Y. I'm not sure if I did it right!!!. Anyway...I would choose "C".
  19. Is x + 7 an odd integer? (1) 2x + 3 is an odd integer. (2) x + 11 is an even integer. Please help! Thanks.
  20. Hi all. Is anyone else besides me thinking of Anderson school of Business?? Looking forward to meet UCLA Anderson candidates...what are your profilesm, gmat scores, etc Thanks.
  21. James, When it comes to admissions, who knows... My girlfriend has a friend in Brazil (female) and she got an acceptance letter from MIT with a 580 GMAT score... So you still have options.
  22. Congratulations IVO!!!! Berkeley has a great student atmosphere, beautiful campus.... if you decido to come... Welcome to California!!!
  23. If the ratio of X to Y is 3 to 2, and the ratio of Y to Z is 5 to 4, then the ratio of X to Z is: (A) 15/16 (B) 15/8 © 4/5 (D) 8/15 (E) 1/2 It seems to me like a very easy ratio problem, but.... is there a formula to follow and get the right answer???? Thank you for your comments.
