  1. Congratulations, You did it. Now, you can rest for a while after the long long admission process. Me too, I will rest for a week before I start looking for a way to finance my studies. Enjoy your success [clap]
  2. Thank you very much for your help. Well there are some details that make me still hesitate: 1. I am Moroccan and sometimes I am afraid of what is happening in the US. Things seem to be more difficult for arabic people there. 2. The tuition of a Wharton MBA is much higher and the program lasts 2 years instead of 1 year at INSEAD. Which means that the Cost difference includes the salary of one year. However, it seems that people consider the Wharton MBA much better than the INSEAD MBA. After I checked with the alumni at INSEAD or at Wharton, each one promotes his school. The Wharton alumnus thinks that Wharton is a superior category of schools which cannot be compared to INSEAD. But, the INSEAD Alumnus, thinks that his school is much global and it is a 1 year program that covers 80% of a 2 years one. Another point: I plan to work for some years in Asia after the MBA.
  3. Thank you very much. I also wish you all the best. I see you ar from Indea and your pool is one of the most difficult ones. If you did not apply yet, I advice you to take as much time as needed to prepare a perfect application. Do not rush because of the claim that says the earlier the application is sent, the better are the chances. It doesn't work all the time. Just prepare the application as perfectly as you can and then pray god and ask your parents to pray for you !!![heartbeat]
  4. Well, If I were you, I would try t contact the adcom (by email). I would send a perfect email, telling them about new elements that can solidify your application and give them more reasons to accept you. While some adcoms may discourage people from contacting them, others may learn something about your motivation if you do so. In your case, it is very likely that there is a weakness in your application (that explains the 9 rejects). If you stay silent, the weakness wouldn't disapear. On the contrary, an email to the adcom can add something positive (try t find out why you were dinged)
  5. I am admitted to INSEAD , Wharton and (almost) LBS. However, I am not decided yet which one to go for. I am based in France now and the Wharton MBA cost is higher than that of INSEAD. In the same time, I know that Wharton ranks first and it is known worldwide. Do someone have solid information on how to compare these 3 programs and how Wharton is viewed in the US ? What can I miss if I opt for INSEAD ?
  6. Thank you for your help. Actually, I do not mine the money I put into the reservation for INSEAD. The most important thing for me now, is to make sure I won't make a bad decision!!! I do not have enough information about the life after a Whaton or an INSEAD. I plan to work abroad (in Asia) and I am afraid the INSEAD degree is not as well known as that of Wharton !!! Also, I do not have accurate information about the salaries after Wharton (it is an important element because the wharton MBA costs a lot and the money should be paid back) :yuck:
  7. I have 4 years experience. I noted that a lot of people pay a lot of attention to "numbers" in their applications and I must say something about this: - The GMAT score is very important (I think that many schools use it more for their marketing needs than for evaluating the candidate). Do not trust those who say it is "just one element of the application". In fact, it is an important one. - The TOEFL, is used to evaluate the language abilities of the candidate and you just need to have a score superior than the required minimum (253 for the US schools; 260 for INSEAD) - the professional experience is very important but I insist that the progression is more important than the duration: the adcom would prefer a candidate who has 2 years experience during which he evolved significantly than a candidate who spent 10 years in his position. THE ESSAYS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT AFTER THE GMAT. Well, I got 710 in GMAT and 267 in the TOEFL (very normal scores in this site). But you shoud take into account the fact I am Moroccan and that these scores maybe considered outstanding in my pool. I speak 4 languages: Arabic, French, English and Chinese. I left Morocco at 19 and had an international experience that I promoted in my essays..... For the GMAT, I give you one advice: work, work and work until you reach the score you need. My preparation lasted about 6 months. During the first months I tried to practice 1h30 after work and more than 4 hours during the weekend. The last month was crucial, but I made a very strategic planning: I asked for 10 days vaccancy so as I can prepare seriously, then, I worked for 10 days and again asked for another 7 days vaccancy just before the exam day. the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] is very important and I really advice you to do it twice if you have time. After each exercice, I always tried to learn something about my mistakes, how to avoid them in the futur and how to improve my speed if I face similar problems. (I wrote about 30 pages of notes about these tricks) Considering my Engineering Background, I had to do more efforts in the verbal part and of course check from time to time that I can be confortable in the quantitative part. Voccabulary is very important in the verbal part. After each exercice, I tried to make sure I know 100% of the voccabulary used in it. As to the CAT tests , I would advice you to do as many CATs as you can. I used these CATs to improve my time management . I think that the more tests you can do, the more comfortable you will feel during the real exam. I used Princeton, Kaplan and PP. Kaplan is good but do not pay attention to the score. Do not try the Kaplan test the week before the exam. In my case, I just used the quantitative part of Kaplan during the last week. I wanted to have a last habit of checking my answers carefully, especially for the DS problems. Most of the questions in the PP are from the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip]. You can either do the PP tests before the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] or use the PP just before the exam to boost your confidence (I did the PP tests during the last 3 days and the result was fine). A last tip: better slowly but surely. :D
  8. Hi everybody, I have been using this site for one year but did not participate a lot (sorry about that). I used this site to prepare for the GMAT and the TOEFL and have been reading the posts of those who experienced the admission processes. I think that it is my turn to say something about the whole process. Please, if someone has any question about my application experience, I will be very pleased to give some hints. Now, I am admitted to INSEAD, London Business School and (almost admitted) to Wharton. But, I still have to make a very important decision: which school ? I already paid about $4500 to make my reservation for INSEAD, but I am not decided yet. Wharton seems to be a prestigious school but when I compare the cost of the INSEAD MBA with that of Wharton, I hesitate to opt for Wharton. Can you guys tell me what you think about these 3 programs? I will be answering your questions about the GMAT, the TOEFL or the essays (according to my experience). please ask. [heartbeat]
  9. Hi Kongoo, Can you tell me about your interviews? What about the interview with INSEAD and what kind of questions do they ask ? when did you have your interview? You can send me an email to olla@caramail.com
  10. Hi, I am now writing my essays for London Business School MBA. there are 2 questions I am not sure how to tackle . What well known historical event would you have liked to have been involved in and why? (500 words) First, I don't know what the adcom tries to know from this essay and I am not sure what kind of events I can talk about. Also, I think that expressing some opinions may be risky. On the basis of your experience of working in and leading teams (either in your professional or personal life), please reflect on how you plan to contribute to your study group and the wider school community. (500 words) In this question, I want to be sure of the kind of contributions that can be made to the school community.
  11. I am still not convinced that the problem with C and E is the "modifier problem": - E lacks "that" to be a correct . - In the other sentences I think that the use of "resonably quick resolution" instead of "a resonably quick resolution" maybe wrong. At least it changes the meaning of the original sentence. Can someone correct me if I am wrong or just throw more light on this topic?
  12. I think the answer is E. - Each of the the three networks broadcasts .... (singular) - The three networks each broadcast .....(plurial)
  13. I agree with longlong. The best answer is A being far from salt resources doesn't imply salt scarcity (the salt can be imported for exemple).
  14. 1- The metabolic rate of sharks is low compared (with the rates of most other fishes). a- b- to most other fishes'rate c- to that of rates of most other fishes d- to most other fishes e- with most other fishes. please can anyone explain the right answer. what is the difference between "compared with" and "compared to" 2- (Even as they never forgave) the Crusaders who overran their homeland, the syrians have never absolved the french for taking territory from them. What is the correct use of "Even as" 3- Sunspots, Vortices of gas associated with strong electromagnetic activity (appear on the surface of the sun as dark spots although never sighted at the Sun's pole or equator) "although never sighted at the Sun's pole or equator" contains no verb. Can we use Although in this way ?
  15. For the first question, I think that the best answer is B. because of the paralelism: - will meet the needs of that study - will have the versatility and power to facilitate should give: "will not only meet the needs of that study, but also have the versatility and power to facilitate" As to the 2nd question, I agree that it is a tricky one but can be solved by elimination and some logic: - A is wrong because it means that the 2 sides agreed to create difficulties to "the other": the meaning is distorded and the use of "the other" is ambiguous - B is also wrong because it distorded the meaning. D and E are wrong : (one another) in D and (both intent) in E are not correct. The best answer is C. It is clear. Also I have some doubt if it is correct to use "Both sides" if you have any information about the use of "both", it can help me.
