Congrats!
Lemme tell you some facts I found out about going to Stan w/o aid.
I m not sure ur based in which country but If your from the US.. its too easy to get a loan ( u can apply to Stan for a loan as well)
But if your an international applicant like me, first of all you need to show finances equivalent to the estimated expense of atleast one year to get a Student Visa. Also, I was suggested an organization NSF(National Science Foundation) by Indrani Gardella from the grad office for funding but I couldnt find anything related to my interests.. u might wanna look into it. I dont think paying back the loan would be a problem , but sometimes, like in my case, arranging so much money can be a problem, if thats not the case with you ( hopefully!)... you know what to do. Otherwise, you are left with the option of trying to get an RA or TA ship by contacting profs.. they do reply even if they arent interested to say a polite 'no'. I have tried this but dont have any success so far.. but there is no harm in trying. There are certain institutions which give scholarships and interest free loans as well.. ( I can give you the contact if your based in India! ) but this process is extremely competitive and deadlines for most scholarships is already over.. but you can still try for it!
There is a 50% chance of getting an RA or a TA after landing up in Stan.. but It depends on the individual's circumstances whether he can take such a risk.... though I decided against taking any such risk!
Also, you can have the option of choosing b/w a No-aid admit @ stan with a Full-aid admit in a someother good university.. I am sure you'll have such options coz the fact that u have an admit from Stan proves your excellent acad credentials. So be Positive!
Hope we can meet each other at Stan!
