  3. Hi nalini, Iam also appearing for the ibt TOEFL test sometime soon.I do not know much about the ibt toefl but I thought I could help u with the gre preparation. It is good that u r studying barrons words .I think u should study the new wordlist as well as revise the older ones and also those which u forget and also continue working on quantitative ability. Some of the books ,which I think,r useful such as - Big book-do as many tests as u can and start them along with ur study of wordlists .Do not worry that u do not know the words .U will learn them along with solving bigbook questions. Also u will get good practise on solving sentence completion, analogy, antonyms and r.c questions. Kaplan -good book for basics for quant.U can also find some very good links for mathematics like purplemath,dr.math by searching this forum. Do the gre powerprep test first so that u will know ur shortcomings in the specific areas and u can work on them. Also for rcs -Arco's gre- gmat-mcat-lsat reading comprehension book is good.I found this book really useful with tips and stratigies to tackle reading comprehension. Also work on improving speed in solving the questions.Hope this helps.Do share ur toefl experience. Good luck:tup:

Thanks
  6. Hi hamilton1, First of all congrats for ur awesome score[clap] Plz share ur experience of the exam and also type of questions ,books u referred etc.. Thanx in advance.
  7. Hi, I took my exam on the sixth of may .I also took the tutorials ,as I thought I would get adjusted to the surrounding there and also I would get some time to relax, for about 15 min. Then I noticed that there was no backspace word written on the keyboard  and I asked the proctor when he showed me that there was actually a key marked with an arrow and that was the backspace. And thus my exam started . I took the break of 10min -ate an energy bar and drank some gaterade and when I came back and saw that there was a question on my computer asking me to confirm wheather I was taking a break.I was so nervous about the exam that I clicked 'no' hoping that the test will start[ I was impatient to wait till the time elapse] as there was about one minute left for the exam to start automatically. Then the computer hang :mad:and I again had to ask for assistance and the proctor told me that I was supposed to click 'yes' instead of 'no'.Then once again the test started with the quant and verbal section.I was amazed:) to see that there was no unidentified experimental section as I went prepared to the exam with three sections in mind.I felt as though the exam ended soon not only because there were only two sections but also we become involved in it so much that those 75min seem like 10min.I also totally agree that the break time should be fully utilised for relaxation.
  8. Hey todlesmrlot, First of all I would like to specify that Iam not a guru or something, may be there are other very genius people in this forum to give u a better advice. Why Iam replying to u is that I happened to see ur post and since I've finished my GRE I thought I would be able to help u to a certain extent. Well I think, first of all do not PANIC.It is very essential to keep ur cool during the examination.Since I believe that ur exam is on monday ,I think u r done with ur preparation. So my advice would be to not worry about anything and just write it with whatever knowledge u have.Just revise whatever preparation u have done.If u think that u do not know standard deviation ,then go through some simple problems .Do not put pressure on urself especially when the exam is near.I think the last week of the examination should be used only to revise and not to study anything new.Otherwise it will be counterproductive.Just be confident with ur preparation and face with a positive attitude. If u have worked through ETS materials then u must be familiar with the type of questions that will be asked in the exam.If u are wondering what BB means-well it is BIG BOOK .I think it is a must for gre preparation. The questions are similar to powerprep. Hope this helps. All the best

  11. Hello everyone, Iam new to this forum.I just finished my GRE last week and Iam thinking of taking TOEFL next month.I read about the test on ets.org but confused about few things. 1 Is it necessary to study grammer for the ibt? 2 Is the gre vocabulary sufficient for ibt? Also I searched some books on amazon.com.I think the official guide to the new TOEFL by ETS and cracking the TOEFL by priceton review are good books. Can anyone recommend me with names of some good books? Thanks in advance.
