Oh..I am tired..my problems are not coming to an end. So last time i had the I-20 of a mediocre univ and didnt get hte I-20 from higher univ in time . So I went for interview and got visa for mediocre univ. Now my company is not relieving me even to join the mediocre uin. They are asking me to defer the admission by 6 months. do you think i have to go in for a visa a second time if I want to attend the same univ in spring instead of fall ? not that i am absolutely important to the company but they just want to trouble me ...

Actually most of the times they do take 3-4 weeks for processing the visa. (atleast in my case they did) and but you can keep asking them . Tell you school starts early so it is very important that you get the visa in time. They will consider your request...if thisi s not the case then i would suggest that you postpone it a little to be on the safe side.

Ok..I did attend the visa interview and got the visa for the mediocre unversity and I am going to get the I-20 for the high ranked university on monday . I spoke to the people of the high ranked university and here is what they have to say Ques : Can I come to the US with a visa issued in the name of a different university and then can you help me get it changed to your university ? (something Tino suggested is possible) --> no that is not possible ....you will have to attend the university Ques : Can you defer the admission in that case ? --> no answer but then I realized they take in international students only in FALL so dont know i they defer by an year ? or not at all ...dont know .. Ques : I asked if it is ok if I join a little late..first week of september and all --> They didnt asnwer this either ...I think you should be there for registration...dont know the rules regarding this ..but the I-20 says 22 August and there is no way I will get even an emergency appointment by that date.. also taking and emergency appointment and going back to the consulate to get another visa is making me nervous ..getting a visa is a gamble in the first place...and trying to do it another time .....not the best thing to do ...to add to it the funding from the mediocre university is much better than the one in the higer ranked university. any suggestions anyone ..Tino ..ascetic_

Unfortunately , taking the visa for the mediocre school also means I will have to join the school this Fall because my GRE score expires this september...and I am not sure if I cna wait around for 6 more months for and apply for a visa if my GRE expires.

Actually I have lived in Sweden for sometime and in my experience ( I did my masters and applied for a student visa) ...if does take a considerable amount of time ..and no they dont usually rject it .... I am equating the visa situation bec I think you also are appling for Schengen visa

Right now I am thinking of just taking the visa on the mediocre school and when the I-20 of the better school comes then I will just have to defer the admission ...its a pity...but I dont have any option...yes my I-20 of the mediocre school is still valid . Tino you scenario 2 looks very attractive but considering the visa processing is not that simple in India , I dont think they will issue the visa without an original I-20...but I can go and ask ...

I just came to know that the I-20 from the higher ranked university that I was expecting to get 2 days before my visa interview will not be arriving in time . In this case I dont know what to do - Can I take visa on the old I-20 mediocre university and then go to the US and get it changed ot the higher ranked university - I can take an emergency appointment when the I-20 arrives although even that is difficult to get . Please help

I m in the same situation. Unlike koho... I have already paid the SEVIS fees also using the old (mediocre) university's I-20 . But now I am planning to go to a much higher ranked university and its I-20 might arrive only 2 days before my Visa interview. Do I have to pay the SEVIs Fee again ?

i dont understand your concern at all..73 % is a pretty decent ..percentage ....and i dont think people with ask you how much you got in anyways ...GRe + $$$$ + luck should get your through.... and i agree with tino that it is annoying ...when people have concerns like .."please help..i wasnt the topper in my class..will it affect my visa "

I have done my masters from sweden and had friends who were studying in germany. Personally i feel that german education standards are the best in Europe ....and stuttgart is a very well known university......look at the program and the courses carefully...make sure you like that ..otherwise all will be a waste ........we had a quaterly system in sweden ..i think its trimester in germany ..make sure ......if you are looking for good education just go fo it .... Are you an international student ...or american or EU national ....after the great education ....job will largely depend on this....if you are an international student then it is going to be a little tough for you since they have a policy that they have to hire an EU citizen if he has the same skill set but it is not impossible ....and many of my friends did get great job offers...just do you internship at the right place....work hard and life will be good.....

I am not sure about the pre poning and postponing thing ...the way I interpreted it is you can postpone only once and you CANNOT prepone it . you have to cancel the previous appointment and fill all the details again (till then of course you have lost the date you wanted and lost your previous appointment as well ..ha ha some cruel joke) I have a question though ..I filled out the 3 forms and last for SEVIS ..and I-20 details .... online ..now what do you mean by submitting these forms ? Dont you have to submit (i remember seeing a submit button) them online before you can book the date ...? Now I have got I-20 from another university and i want to change the SEVIS no to this ..do i have to cancel the preivvous application or cna i just change this one
