  1. I'll go with A & B 1. "increase govt regulation ..... establish standards" is parallel "to people .. to workers" is parallel A is right 2. B is right "to leave .. to corral .. to drive " is parallel In c, no need of "then" before corral C is wrong
  2. Am surprised to know this is from ETS, or may be i am too naive. Anyway, A : Wrong. "their" is wrong.. should be "it" B : Wrong. "The new regulations mandate companies to allow" sounds weird. "their" is wrong.. should be "it" C : Wrong. "allow" should be "allows" D : Wrong, very very awkward and "lost the continuation of" is unidiomatic E : Wrong. as B. C, could have been the answer, if "allow" was "allows"
  3. Stripping off the useless info: A. Although all the proceedings were not carried live, Soviet audiences have seen a great deal of coverage E. Although not all the proceedings were carried live, Soviet audiences have seen a great deal of coverage A meant that, Soviet audiences have seen a great deal of live coverage E meant that, Soviet audiences have seen a great deal of proceedings of the Communist party
  4. Sentence looks good to me. Plural verb "are" refers to "steel, chemical... industries" The singular pronoun "its" is used to refer Each of those industries
  5. Be careful in using -ing form. Use it when you want to indicate a continuous action. When you have an option b/n -ing and no -ing. Go for no -ing.
  6. None of my classmates has/have got the [tooltip=Official Guide]OG[/tooltip] yet. Both seems to be right. But, if the question was None of my classmates has/have got their OG yet, then i'd pick have. I think, None + countable noun could be singular/plural. None + noncountable noun --> Singular Verb Neither of my friends is/are coming for the party Neither is singular. You should use is.
  7. 15. I would go with C. In C the Idiom distinguishes between X and Y is correctly used. FYI, there are 2 idioms with distinguish you might want to learn Distinguishes between X and Y Distinguish from My intuition leans towards "which may be". May be because, the clause is non-restrictive and "which" sounds better. 80. A is unequivocally the right answer. Second "as" cannot be replaced by that. "That" could have been right if the sentence was Salt deposits and moisture threaten to destroy the Mohenjo-Daro excavation in Pakistan, the site of an ancient civilization that flourished at the same time that the civilizations in the Nile delta and the river valleys of the Tigris and Euphrates flourished. We are comparing "civilizations" and "civilizations". No need of "did". "Those" should not be used. Meaning will not be clear. "Those" might also point to "Salt deposits" 198. Answer is E. I don't know the usage of "those", but here, even though we omit those, the sentence is clear. GMAT prefers clear and concise sentences. You cannot have "than it had had for ...". All the pronouns need to have a distinct antecedant. Second "it" (it had provisions for only twenty-four days) will not have a antecedant. 218. I'll go with E. We don't need That before results. According to Websters Dictionary : That , used as a function word after and to indicate emphatic repetition of the idea expressed by a previous word or phrase In A, results doesn't indicate the repetition of the idea expressed by the previous phrase. 222. A is right ofcourse. I didn't understand what YOUR question is. Last: B does not violate parallelism. Search the archives, Erin explained this type of parallelism somewhere.
  8. Anupam279 : As Erin was explaining, there should be some room for doubt. Like, not unlike, and Unlike are different degrees of expression. "Not unlike" falls between like and unlike. Imagine "Not Unlike" as the grey and Like & Unlike as black & white. If we select E, then we are saying, not unlike = like. As we need some room for doubt, we should go for B. And ofcourse, don't change the meaning of A. If the question was : While Jackie Robinson was a Brooklyn Dodger, his courage in the face of physical threats and verbal attacks was as that of Rosa Parks, who refused to move to the back of a bus in Montgomery, Alabama A. as that of Rosa Parks, who refused B. not unlike that of Rosa Parks, who refused Then, i'll go with A.
  9. It is a modifier problem. Alaska regularly deposits some of its profits from the sale of oil into a special fund, with the intention to sustain the state's economy after the exhaustion of its oil reserves. "Its" modifies the fund. And also, there is no need of a comma after the "Special fund".
  10. n^2 - 1 is odd. So, n^2 got to be even. n^2 can be even only if n is even. 3n + 4 is even. 4 is even, so we need 3n to be even. 3n can be even only if n can be even. So, D is the answer. 0 is considered even
  11. D is the answer Is the meaning of "experimentation using human subjects " same as " human experimentation" ?
  12. Remove the clause from the sentence and see if the meaning of the sentence is clear. If clear, then the clause is non-essential . Use "which". If not clear, then the clause is essential . Use "that".
  13. It was an increase in reported case of malaria along the gulf coast that in 1921 led the health authorities granting a permit for experimentation with human subjects to the group that later would be called by the name of Unimedico A .authorities granting a permit for experimentation with human subjects to the group that later would be called by the name of B . authorities granting a permit for experimentation using human subjects to the group later to be called by the name C . authorities granting a permit for experimentation using human subjects to the group that later would be called by the name of D. authorities to grant a permit for human experimentation to the group later called E. authorities to grant a permit for human experimentation to the group that later would be called by the name of
  14. For most consumers, the price of the automobile insurance continues to rise annually, even if free of damage claims and moving violations. A. even if B. despite being C. even if they are D. although they may be E. even if remaining
  15. During the 1970s it became clear that going to the courts was far more efficient for people who sought a new social or political goal than to go to the voters or work through congress A. that going to the courts was far more efficient for people who sought a new social or political goal B. that for people who sought a new social or political goal, it was far more efficient to go to the courts C. that for people seeking a new social or political goal, the courts were far more efficient to go D. for people seeking a new social or political goal, going to the courts was far more efficient E. for people who sought a new social or political goal, the courts was far more efficient

  17. 'Few' is plural. 'An' is singular. "an unlucky few" is not right
  18. sratin1, If you post specific questions, we can try to help you.
  19. Cartell revised the best seller. In B, i am not sure if it is Cartell who revised the best seller. Also in B, best seller weighs nearly four pounds which is not the case, revised bestseller weighs 4 pounds.
  20. "Regard as" is idiomatic. I don't know anything about "regard to be".
  21. We need "as much as", so B and D are out In C and E, Considered to be and Considered as are unidiomatic We are left with A.
  22. Yup, B changes the meaning. In math terms, B says >= (greater than or equal to) D says
