  4. HI ppl, I am lost too when it comes to apping related info. maybe u can look into the apping part of this website. I am in the process of apping and i will keep you posted on websites which give such info. And... in math timing was not a problem. Infact if i remember right i finished some 4-5 mins b4 time... i didnt have to guess... time limits is comfy. But for verbal.. i wouls suggest honing up ur reading skills... coz u need to be fast on the RCs.. Good luck
  5. HI I did a lot of timed tests on the computer. I used barrons word list as the primary source to get aquainted with words. kaplans book provides a math review at the end. I saw those formulae like an hr before the exam. Those were very useful. All the best.
  6. hi ppl my GRE Score is 1500 AWA 5 AND TOEFL 233-290 CGPA 7.44 i want to do masters in CS... i am frm non cs background. I am interested in Computer Networks.Plz suggest me a list of univs with research scope in networking.
  7. hey ppl sorry for the delay in reply.. i ve not had time to go online these days. .yes.. i practiced writing timed essays.. i must have written abt 15 of each, the issue and arg... i used only barrons and the offical guide.. 10th edition, and took lots of timed tests frm kaplan and so on. i guess barrons is quite comprehensive. good luck to all of u.
  8. oops ppl, i didnt want u guyz to slack out .... juz meant to be reassuring !!!! actually... what GRE tests is ur ability to keep cool in all the 5 sections.. and not suffer a burn out towards the end.. so what i wud suggest is take that 10 min break after ur essays... and also take as many full length tests as possible.. i mean.. with the essays and the extra experimental sections also.. that helps you concentrate for the entire duration... and venk.. between modest and lucky.. i would like to consider myself... well modest??? [bounce]

I AM INTERESTED IN NETWORKING.. .CAN ANY ONE PLZ HELP ME OUT WITH UNIVS...? PS: I AM FRM BITS PILANI, INDIA.. AND SOME OF MY BATCH MATES HAVE PERFORMED BETTER THAN ME... SO THAT KINDA PUTS MY SCORE IN THE AVERAGE CATEGORY !!!!!!!!!!!!:yuck:
  11. hi ppl, my gre was easy. I had 2 verbal sections and one quant sections. ppl one improtant thing.. all the words were familiar enough .. .no big suprises/// ppl told me that there would be very few wrds frm barrons or big book.. so i did words frm all abt words also.. but there was no need for all that... all words frm barrons or very familiar ones... i got 3 rcs in both my verbal sections.. and in my first verbal my rc question was the 4th!!!!!!!!! but maybe that one was experimental.. no need to panic.. theere will be one quite long passage.. u have to be fast on that one.. what i found was .. atleast in one rc passage.. the questions are very safe.. no suprises... all the best... ppl will crack it.. dont worry.. also can anyone tell me where in the site can i find info abt apping???? thanks TM!!! SANGY

  13. ----------------------------- The above statement, fails to acknowledge a paradox, facing law makers and evironmentalists alike today- Whether to protect and preserve natural areas, or to generate revenue through tourism, albiet at the cost of adulterating its pristine beauty.Far from what the statement contends, I think they most often that not , represent conflicting objectives and are therefore, mutually exclusive. Natural wilderness, provides immense scope for tourism , and often represent the cross section of the flora and fauna of an particular country but, too much of tourism , in any of these primitive areas is potentially deleterious . The south American Pampas, or the African Savannahs, or the praires or the lush alluvial sundarbans, home of the famous Indian Tiger, these untamed jungles have never ceased to enrapture human kind.Modern day tourism strives to give tourists, a taste of wilderness in all its feral glory. But this often comes with a price tag. An example in point, is the much famed coral reef of Australia. The proliferation of coral accross the sea, has been found to decrease alramingly over the last few decades. It has also been found that some exotic varieties have become extinct, causing the Australian government to limit deep sea diving and other such expeditions which disturb, the unique ecology of the reef. In many of the naturally well-endowed countries, tourism is often the main source of revenue. Tourism, showcases a country's heritage, history and culture, be it natural or man made. But increase in tourism in wilderness areas, often disrupts its untamed, untouched beauty, often the very source of its attraction. Excess of tourists, means more vehicles for transport, and more pollution. It also engenders the need for more restraunts, shopping places, lodging facilities, and communication, gradually transforming the area into a cosmopolian haven. These effects often have a permanently baneful effect on the ecology of the place under question. Moreover, despite strict laws that prevent game hunting, the ease of access often leads to indisriminate hunting down of potentially rare animal species. The depletion of rare species of peacocks in sunderbans has been attributed to the ease of access of humans to such species. Futhermore, increase in tourism , and increased modern facilities often causes the natives to relocate. These native societies represent how culture adapts itself the ecology. These societies have evolved over centuries to the changes in these surroundings, and distrupting these colonies have resulted in loss of valuable anthropological , and sociological artefacts. The pygmies of Africa who were forced to move outside the african jungles with the advent of the much famed african safaris, and the almost complete extinction of the aboriginal colonies of Australia, illustrate this point. To sum up, tourism generates revenue and is a source of valuable economic bargain power of any country. But , environmentally sensitive projects, may not be the most effective way of protecting wilderness, especially in the case that they attract more tourism. Tourism, in excess measure, disrupts ecological systems, because, it commercialises the area in question. Therefore, a judicious mix of tourism and wilderness preservation endeavors, can protect the flora and fauna of these places for posterity. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
