  1. Hey Mike, I got my GMAT Set from the Amit's Yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/gmatnetwork/ Check it out. There are many resources there besides GMATSet. It's very useful.
  2. Hi Seth, For CR, I basically practiced heavily using OG11 CR and GMATPrep. But I recommend that you read about strategies to tackle CR questions before practicing because it will help you to notice patterns in CR questions and help you spot the right answer. Here are a few good files that I obtained from Amit's GMATnetwork board
  3. Somehow my files did not get attached in the previous post. Let me try again.
  4. Ok here's my debrief: July - September Starting in July here are the resources I used: Kaplan 2006 Kaplan 800 Manhattan GMAT SC (found out about it via Twinesplitter's post, thanks so much Twinesplitter. Your post helped me out a lot!) OG10 (only like 2 weeks before exam which I realized was a big mistake) Powerprep pp1, pp2 (620, 650) - in the first 3 weeks GMATPrep (650, 710 (one week before September test)) I started revising for GMAT using Kaplan 2006 and Kaplan 800 back in July. Both I found not to be that useful after I came across the OG. Unfortunately I was quite late in realizing that before I took my September test. Prior to my september test, I did take a few practices on GMATprep getting 670 and 710. I thought I will do ok on the real test, but that was not the case. I found the real test to be more difficult than GMATprep at that time and I was suffering from exam anxiety and nervousness on G-day as well and the score reflected that - a 600.... the verbal raw score of 27 is quite shocking to me for I thought i did ok during the test and apparently that was exactly the opposite. September - November I felt quite down after the test but I was not going to give up. I visited this forum, especially "Just Finished My GMAT" in search for inspiration and ideas on how to boost my verbal score. I found a few posts about how people improved their verbal score and it revolved around the use of Spidey's notes, Sahil's SC notes, 1000 SC, OG (for sure!) and GMAT sets. I also found this website which is VERY comprehensive in terms of resources, it's pretty much a one stop shop: h**p://beatthegmat.blogspot.com/ Then I also joined this Yahoo group started by Amit: h**p://groups.yahoo.com/group/gmatnetwork/ And i found a lot of resources here. One important resource is GMATSet 21-30 After my September test, I know i need to focus heavily on Verbal. I bought OG11 and cranked through SC and CR (around 20-40 q's a day) and noting down the mistake I made. I modified Hoc Phan's GMAT grid to allow me the timing to work when I created new tabs on the sheet (note, if you used my modified version of the GMAT grid, do remember to move the active tab (i.e. the tab you're working on) to the left making it the first tab, or else the timer will not work ( i didn't bother to find out why this is the case). I have attached my modified GMAT Grid courtesy of Hoc Phan. It actually features my notes on OG11 SC's. One key thing about the use of OG is that the explanations, especially those in OG11, is very very comprehensive. The key especially for SC, is not to find the right answer, but to understand why the others are wrong. I realized that this only comes after extensive practice and review of the explanations of the answer. Then you would begin to see a pattern in this test. I realized this CR and SC and may be also a little on RC. Besides heavy use of OG, I also practiced on Verbal sections on GMATSet. I completed 21-26 also noting down and evaluating my mistakes. Note: the the answers in GMATSet is sometimes not accurate but I find that they have a good mix of CR, SC and RC questions at a relatively high level that let me practice on handling mixed questions. Whenever I encountered questions that i was unsure of, I would search on this forum for explanations and usually I would find something. =) I also downloaded a few CR help from Amit's Yahoo group which gave me a better idea on how to spot patterns in CR questions. As for practice tests, I did the Manhattan GMAT Tests which I had access to after purchasing Manhattan SC (scores: 590 (beginning of Oct), 620, (mid- Oct), 690 (end oct) I also practiced HEAVILY on GMATPrep. New questions will pop up everytime i restart a test. Of coruse sometimes questions are repeated so the scores may soemtimes be slightly inflated. I didn't record what i've been getting but last week before my test this week, I practiced about 3 times and got the following (710, 770, 750). As you can see, all these scores are higher than my actual which I was not surprised because of some repeated questions. But when I practice on GMATprep, i know i was practicing on actual GMAT questions so that built up my confident and allowed me to familiarize myself with the exact types of questions that I will need to tackle on G-Day. G-day I did not relax much the day before and actually. During the week i was going over hardbin questions in PS, DS, CR, SC of OG10 to further tune myself for the final stretch. I used the file that I obtained from Twinesplitter's post which indicated the hardbin questions in OG10. I have also attached the file to this post. The night before the exam, I read Godot's post on AWA http://www.www.urch.com/forums/gmat-awa/50851-6-0-my-awa-experience.html to refresh my memory on AWA. I find his template to be useful and easy to understand. On the actual day, my exam was at 4.30pm. I actually had some volunteer work to do in the morning so I worked on that until 11.30am and went home and went over some past mistakes I had in the OG's. Then I reviewed the AWA template and headed to the test center. The AWA was quite straight forward. I used Godot's way of tackling it and I find it a lot easier than other templates. For math, this time around i felt the questions were easier than my previous experience, at least I didn't feel that I was held up in any questions. I was actually worried that I was not getting the right answers and was being given low level questions but i pressed on. However, I did run out of time at the end and by mistake left the last question blank which I never intended to. ( I heard it's a big nono to leave questions at the end out and I was kinda upset about the mistake). I tried to keep my cool, took a break, had a banana and drank some a can a red bull. For verbal, I encountered SC and CR question for more the first 5 questions or so. In GMATPrep I usually would encounter a RC right after the 3rd question. I did not encounter any question that were in OG's. I was unsure of some of my answers and did not feel as good in verbal as I was feeling in GMATPrep tests. Perhaps I was familiar with GMATPrep questions I got comfortable with them. I had to rush through the last 2 questions and I think I did not do well on the last 4 or 5 questions. Even though I did not have a good feeling of the test, I will want to see my score regardless since I have prepared so much for it. Pressing the 'next' button and waiting the 15-20 seconds for the computer to generate the score felt like the longest time. When I saw '7' in the hundreds digit (kinda like a Math question eh? hehe), I was happy and satisfied. A 700+ score would have been nice but a 700 definitely works for me! Let me know if you all have any questions about my experience.
  5. Hi everybody, I haven't contributed much to this board, but I would just like to share my experience with you all since I have used this board a lot to help me out with my revision. I took the first gmat back in September which is like 2 months ago and felt devastated and surprised after i received a 600 in the test. (i did manage to score a 710 on GMAT prep a few days before the test). Before getting the 600, I prepared for around 1.5 months. After getting it, I realized i need to take the test more seriously and better prepare myself. It's now 2.38am, just went out for a party LOL! Will write more about how I improved my score tomorrow. G'day everyone!
