  3. If Z1(1 is subscript), Z2, Z3, Z4, Z5…… Zn is a series of consecutive positive integers, is the sum of all the integers in the series odd ? a) (Z1 + Z2 + Z3 + Z4 + Z5 + …… + Zn)/n is and odd integer b) n is odd Ans is A.
  4. A box contains 100 balls, numbered from 1 to 100. If three balls are selected at random and with replacement from the box, what is the probability that the sum of three numbers on the balls selected from the box will be odd? a)1/4 b)3/8 c)1/2 d)5/8 e)3/4 Answer - C We can have the sum in two ways Odd-Odd-Odd & Even-Even-Odd. The probablity of this 1/2*1/2*1/2 There can be four combinations Odd-Odd-Odd Even-Even-Odd Odd-Even-Even Even-Odd-Even Therefore 4/8 = 1/2.
  5. A certain box contains 6 marbels, 3 red, 2 blue, 1 white. If 3 marbles are selected at reandom, what is the probability that no red marbel will be drawn ? Ans is 1/20. Can anyone explain how ?
  6. My question is that are we talking about the commision the salesman receives from selling the tv sets or the profit made by selling. If pofit is 25% then cost price of each set is 260 and profit on each sale is 65 , then 200/65 = 4(next whole no) but if we are talking about the commision of the salesman then we answer 3 is correct. My question is with the word used profit instead of the commission.

  8. If a digit h is the hundreth's digit in the decimal d= 0.2h6, what is the value of d, rounded to the nearest tenth ? (1) d (2) h My answer is E, but best answer is D. The explaination is for h>=5 d is 0.3 but for h for h = 4, d= 0.246 which is 0.25 or 0.3 when rounded Is the answer in the official guide wrong ?
  9. Thanks, I just assumed that we know the parking rate for 1st hour when the total was 3.75.

  11. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With its abundance of noun inflections, Icelandic is one of several Germanic languages that is compact when written but can lengthen considerably when translated into English. a: is compact when written but can lengthen considerably when translated into English b: are compact when they are written, but they can lengthen considerably when they are translated in English. c: is compact when written but can lengthen considerably when being translated into English. d: are compact when written but can lengthen considerably in English translation. e: is compact when it is written but can lengthen considerably when translated in English. I think B is the best answer(A,C, & E are out because they use singular verb), because in D "in English translation" is as if while the translation the language lengthens.
  12. A television salesman makes a profit of 25 percent on all sales. How many televisions will he have to sell for $325 each to make a total profit of at least $200 ? a. 3 b. 4 c. 5 d. 8 e. 15 The best answer is A. Does anybody think that this question is easy?

If Nan's total parking charge at the garage yesterday was $3.75, for how many hours of parking was charged? 1 Parking charges at the garage are $0.75 for the first hour and $0.50 for each additional hour or fraction of hour. 2. If the change for the first hour had been $1.00, Nan's total parking charge would have been $4.00 The answer is A, I had chosen D, I assumed that the charge for additional hours remained same in 2. With the information given in 2 is my assumption wrong ?
  14. Condition 1 l*w = A If length doubled area will increase by 64. Therefore, (2*l)*w = A +64 2*A = A + 64 since lw = A A = 64 Condition 2 l*w = A If width is halved area will decrease by 32. Therefore, l*(w/2) = A - 32
  15. A proposal has been made to trim the horns from rhinoceroses to discourage poachers; the question is whether tourists will continue to visit game parks and see rhinoceroses after their horns are trimmed.
