  2. Yep, I totally agree with you in this point One of my friends have got Admission ( and Funding,) from Cornell eventhough she did not have a good GPA ( 7.7/10) and graduated from unknown University in my country. However, she had a very very good LOR from a well-known professor in USA ( by luck, I think so:D)
  3. Yeah, I hope I will have an opportunity to pay it forward BTW, I jusst wanna know about the real tests? What are differences in the PBT and CBT in the difficulty level?
  4. .To be honest, I do not feel worried about the Quants section. Certainly I will try my best to get the maximum score. In reality, Verbal section is the one that I wanna concentrate on. BTW, Which kinds of test did you take, computer-based tests ot papre-based tests? @ Goldust: You are the first guy who is very enthusiasticabout sharing and helping other people :)
  5. Plz evaluate my essay:blush::) All your comments are valuable:tup::tup: Thank in advance:tup: do you agree or disagree teacher should make their social or political views known to students? It is indisputable that teachers play an pivotal role in teaching and guidancing students in classes. They provide students a lot of precious knowledge which is very necessary for them in the future. However, should teacher show their social or political viewpoints to students? Each person has their own opinion toward this question. Some people approve it but others hace the opposite one. In my opinion, i strongy agree with the latter that teachers shoud not make their social or political point of views in classes because it can reduce studying efficacy and influence viewpoints of students First and foremost, that teachers express their social or political opinions on the classes could reduce students’ studying efficiencies. In the classes, it is better for both teachers and students to focus on lectures and related problems. Teachers should discuss with students about the lectures, share their researching or working experiences instead of talking about their political viewpoints. It definitely will increases the studying efficacy in the classes. Moreover, it also provides students a lot of real and valueable experiences. They could use these if they face difficulties when they work in the real environment. Indeed, when teachers show their point of views on the classes, it should be considered to waste time of students Last but not least, when teachers make their social or political viewpoints known to students, they may influence students’ viewpoints. As a matter of fact, students usually do not have definite social or political standpoints. They are quite naive because they pay all their attention on studying and academic issues. Therefore, when teachers like showing their viewpoints, they may discuss or talk continuously about that issues. This really has an influence on the opinions of students, especially when their teachers’ opinions are biased. Addtionally, this also prevents the free development of students. For instance, when my teacher usually experess his disapproval about goverment, he makes us have the same opinions with him. Hence, most students of our class consider the policies or agreements of goverment are wrong or unsuitable without having any understanding about it. Obviously, the viewpoints of teachers have the potential to change the viewpoints of students All in all, because when teachers manifest their social or political viewpoint on classes, it influences the studying effectiveness and students’ positions, I personally consider this is not a necassary work. I strongly recommend teachers concentrate on teaching and discussing acedemic-related issues on classes.

  7. Hi guy, I have a BB ebook that contains 27 tests. Contact me if you want it You could print it out to get the hard copy
  8. Congrat, It is really a great score Do you have any tips for preparing Speaking section? I want to know something about your experiences in studying Pronunciation, Intonation and etc..not just for iBT test. As a matter of fact, 26 Speaking is really great and is a hallucination for a lot of people ( like me:blush::()
  9. In my opinion, Cataclysmic is more strong than Unfortunate because in that sentence, people are " forced" to leave Anasazi. I think it is more suitable due to " an unfortunate event" is not strong enough to coerce people into leaving their homeland. Moreover, Flee also could be used in this context : Flee= to escape by running away, especially because of danger or fear
  10. I am really sorry for my error,:blush: Maybe you come from India, therefore English is your daily language As a matter of fact, I faces a lot of troubles with Speaking section Any way, thanks a lot for your reply:tup:

  12. hi Goldust, which books would you recommend for the RC's? Thanks
  13. Btw, Goldust, as I know, you got 112 in Toefl iBT and 6 in AWA. Could you give some advice on preparing and studying TOEFL in TOEFL box. I think it is very helpful and precious for everybody Dear!
  14. Thank you very much for your advice, Paul and Goldust Addtionally, i wanna get advice from you for the schedule I am going to take the test in November or December, what should i arrange my studying plan? Infact, i do not have much time because i am a student. I could spend about 3-4h per day and the whole day in the summer holiday ( June and July) I only wants to focus on Verbal section because i majors in Technology. Hence, the Quant is not so difficult, in my opinion. Maybe in the end of May i will finish Barron wordlists ( lol, i do not say that i will totally remember all the words, but i think when I do the BB or other books, i will have the chance to review it) Thank you very much
  15. Hi guy, thanks for your comment However, i think " In my viewpoint" is correct, Sorry because i wrote " view point" instead of " viewpoint or view-point" PS : When i was in high school, Chemistry is my passion:tup:
  16. Hi Goldust First, thanks you for your dedication to this forum, it is really admirable:tup: I want to ask you a question about learning Barron wordlists. Should we learn by heart all the words in Barron before doing Bible and other tests? In fact, i find absorbing about 4800words terrible and tired and dull. Moreover, have you collected the real tests? i see some Indian and Chinese friends have collected the real tests from those who had taken the tests. Finally, have a nice day!!

Ingratiate Analogies: 1. Vivid: Inspiration 2. Flattery: Ingratiate Issue Topic: 1.People's attitudes are determined more by their immediate situation or surroundings than by any internal characteristic. Argument Topic: 1. From a letter to the editor of a city newspaper. "Butter has now been replaced by margarine in Happy Pancake House restaurants throughout the southwestern United States. Only about 2 percent of customers have complained, indicating that 98 people out of 100 are happy with the change. Furthermore, many servers have reported that a number of customers who still ask for butter do not complain when they are given margarine instead. Clearly, either these customers cannot distinguish margarine from butter, or they use the term 'butter' to refer to either butter or margarine. Thus, to avoid the expense of purchasing butter, the Happy Pancake House should extend this cost-saving change to its restaurants in the southeast and northeast as well."
  23. Playing computer games is a waste of time for children. Do you agree or disagree? Due to the invention of computers, computer games have been played an important role in society, especially with children. Therefore, the question whether playing computer game wastes time of the children or not is open for debate. In my viewpoint, i totally agree with the point that playing computer game is beneficial for children because it is a way for relaxation, a chance to broaden their minds and an opportunity to make more new friends In the first place, children can play computer games for relaxation. There is a fact that the pressures from school is more and more increasing. By playing game, the children could refresh their minds. In some cases, their parents do not allow them to go out of house. Thus, playing computer game at home is a suitable substitute way. Additionally, when they win the games, they feel positive emotions which in turn has a positive influence on their health. This is not only prevents children from stresses but also has the potential to increase their academic results in school. In the second place, playing computer games contributes to broaden children’s mind. Some kinds of game in computer are mental games. In order to play it well, they must pay their attention to it. Thus, this helps increase the concentration ability of children. Moreover, such kinds of games that require intensive thinking also develop the agility and sharpness of the mind of children. Among this types of games are puzzles, crosswords and strategy games. It deeply reinforces the reflection ability of children’s brain. Indeed, when children play computer games, it in turns remarkably develops their minds In the third place, by playing games, children have the chance to make more new friends. As a matter of fact, when they play the online games, they need to have partners. These partners may be older or younger or the same with them. However, they have the same interests. Therefore, it is easy for them to discuss and make friend. They can share their own viewpoints on games and other things in life. Obviously, having more friends will make the life of children more meaningful and comfortable All in all, due to all above-mentioned reasons, i finds playing computer games beneficial for children. However, they should not be addicted to games. I strongly recommend children try to balance their academic works with games in order to have a full development.
