  1. ^thanks for your comments Anyway this is my final list (please comment on whether i should make any changes with the safes): Ambi: GA Tech University of Illinois Chicago Mod: NYU (decided to go for it because of the Stern School) Indiana University Bloomington SUNY Buffalo Safe: NEU (is this safe or mod for my profile? ) USC Syracuse George Mason (chose this over RIT because course won't be so rigorous and fees are lower)
  2. Well GA Tech has been my dream school and I am entitled to few ambitious efforts eh? Thing is that last year a lot of people with a profile maybe a little better than mine got admits there. Maybe with a convincing SOP and work experience as a TA in my undergrad coll will be good enough What do you say? And to the other question..waster of time and money or not? As for the fields, I'd say interest in SE and N/w Security
  3. If you have good acads to back then why do you want mediocre colleges. Take it again and try for 700+ in Quant and atleast 450 in verbal
  4. GRE: 1330 (740Q 590V A.W.A. 5.0 ) TOEFL CBT: 287 (valid until March 08 and many unis i emailed are accepting it) TOEFL iBT: (taking it on December 7th) Acads: 55% Mumbai University. Topper:72% (approx) Also i started off badly in my First year but from second year onwards it was on the rise. Final Year project: Developed a Software Firewall Other: Conducted programming contests and designed puzzles for the ACM chapter of my college. Applying for M.S. in C.S. with interest in the fields of SE, Computer and Network Security and A.I. Here's a list of universities: GA Tech University of Illinois Chicago Indiana University at Bloomington Northeastern University SUNY Buffalo NYU USC Also which of these would be the best safe/moderate option George Mason Syracuse Rochester IT Also for an ambitious effort would it be a waste of time applying at maybe Dartmouth, UPenn or UPitts?
  5. just ask yourself, "what do i intend on gaining from this course academically?" I'm gonna apply to some colleges of the UC system. They're even asking for an additional personal history essay
  6. I was planning on applying to this university. Any grads from this school who've got any advice. I plan on applying for MSCS
  7. sounds like the raven from Omen
  8. I took my 2nd PP test today. Got a score of 1400. 800q 600v Had taken the 1st test last week and had got 1460. 790q 670v How good of an indicator is the Powerprep? I got a lower verbal score in the 2nd test because i wanted to rush through to the quant section. My exam is on Monday, Nov 26th. Any advice for the remaining time?

  11. Just make sure that you mention the appropriate Research Departments that you're interested in and what the colleges offer.
  12. thanks for the explanation. Can you explain the other two?
  13. @YoungEconomist yup that's how it happened. POE = Process of Elimination.
  14. It depends on which questions you miss out on. When i took the Powerprep the first time i concentrated a lot on the first 15 questions. I gradually increased pace upto the 20th question but realised that i would never finish. So for the next 2 questions i used POE right away and then solved the 23rd question. after that i had too little time and raced through to the 28th making guesses. Solved the 28th properly and ended up with 770. In the end i had made 6 mistakes in all but just two were from the first 15.
