  1. Hey Vinay, first - I really like your V score!!! Certainly you're much better in V than 700... we all see your smart performance on the Q prep and feel how determinate you're. Yes, it's a bitter feeling when your fate makes you pass the test and have cold at the same time... I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND YOU bcoz I had the same some time ago... but one small advice, Vinay: do start preparing your application packages, do wait for your AWA, do continue preparing for the CS GRE - its nice results could overcome the Q scores quite in a smooth way...! And take care of your health!!! (the last is the most important) Be strong and be optimistic!!! Regards, Svetlana
  2. Congrats Eagle!!! I've been overworked with my application process and my job for the last 2 weeks, and unfortunetely couldn't participate in the vivid life here, on TestMagic. But today, I felt that I must be back here because I really miss this wondeful and magic forum. Eagle, your test outcomes are just great!!! I'm really very glad for you!!! Once, on my pre-test day, you encouraged me a lot, and that really helped - at least I was mentally upfit for the new experience. And many thanks to you for that!!! Now you have to relax for some time from all kinds of stress gained on your test-day, and align yourslef for the applying process. Take care of all that, and all the best!!! :D Kind regards, Svetlana
  3. Hey Kfree and Eagle, I had the "CRESTFALLEN:" question on my test (I don't remember what was my answer though :o). Surely, as the meaning of the word in the question is "feeling shame, humilation, and showing this feeling", the most close antonym is "haughty" which is "blatantly and disdainfully proud". The states of somebody feeling shame and proud, are mostly opposite. Kind regards, Svetlana
  4. Hey GRESWEDEN, I think your Q is ok, and you need just to be VERY attentive while having your practice tests!!! Don't miss any question you've got, work on it scrupulously and receiving 800 won't be a problem, that's for sure!!! :) Regarding the verbal part - ohhh, that's tough, right? I just suggest you learn by heart (I know that this is a bad way of learning, but still...) the Barron's wordlist and try to activate it in your mind each day before the test... Please, don't make the same mistake I did: I was too lazy to learn the wordlist diligently, I thought that if I have anough practice with looking up the unknown words, that will do... Yeah, I tried to learn the wordlist, tried to use the vocab builder software, but my not too bad results in PP made my estimations overblown... Just had I an opportunity to return back in time, I'd take it much more serious, really :o... Take care and good luck to you :D, regards, Svetlana
  5. Hey Kfree, well, thanks :D, but I hope that's you who's kidding...! ;) My best regards, Svetlana
  6. Hello Ali, :D THANKS-THANKS-THANKS! :D (actually, I can't even imagine how can I reflect in words all my thankfulness to you :o) The application road really demands a lot of strong considerations... and I'm thinking about these different aspects all time... [bomb] I'm not sure if I have that much research maturity to go into a PHD program, so I'll start with earning a MSc degree, and then let's see... (and definetely 'Dr Ali' sounds really good ;)). My research and professional interests are mainly in 2 fields of CS: Signal Processing (this is more math computing -oriented) and Software Architecture (esp. ERP systems). Those are a bit too far from each other, but... I'm somehow managing to keep managing myself involved in projects that belong to both areas... :cool: Financial side is among the basics... :yuck: Unfortunately, I do need financial assistance to continue my studies... and that what makes me a bit frustrated... btw, Ali, you might not believe me, but I'm also considering applying to some Europe univs (Germany, Sweden, and Denmark), besides US... ;) US univs are kind of dreamy for me since I'm too naive :o to consider applying to those extremely high-rated... Ali, I appreciate a lot your help, really... I need just to start trying to write some SOPs and then if I get some exact questions, I know whom I can consult... ;) Wish you good luck and all the best! [goodjob] Kind regards, Svetlana
  7. That's just great :D!!! (and it implies I'm still able reason verbal problems :o) Thanks for your question, Kfree. Good luck to you! [goodjob] Regards, Svetlana
  8. Welcome guys :D! It happens sometimes with all of us - that's what you need take care on the real test - make sure you won't make a careless mistake... ;) GRESWEDEN, it was 800 almost each time I took prep tests... :o What about you? How do you feel where are you standing at? Cheers, Svetlana
  9. Welcome, GRESWEDEN! :) I just once had myself thinking about the same problem question, so I remember it...
  10. x+y=10000 (1) 0.04x+0.06y=520 (2) from (1): y = 10000 - x (3) -> (2): 0.04x+0.06(10000-x)=520 (0.06-0.04)x=600-520 x=4000 --> (3): y = 6000. Where are negatives? ;) HTH, Svetlana
  11. GRESWEDEN, KFREE, not 0.40 is 40%, not 4%!!! the same with 0.6 - it is 60%, not 6%... Take care! ;)
  12. Hey GRESWEDEN, in your notation, x stands for the amount invested at 4%, and y - at 6%, right? If yes, than the plain interest is accumulated like this: 0.04x+0.06y=520 (since 520 is an extra-amount) Everything else in your reasoning is correct :D. Do you agree? Regards, Svetlana
  13. Hey GRESWEDEN, please, have a look here: http://www.TestMagic.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=7137. This is a bit tricky problem, though... ;) Kind regards, Svetlana
  14. Hey kfree, sensation as a noun is usually used with the meaning of 'awareness of some perception' (sensing warm and cold, or sensing the taste or smell...). Besides, sensation could mean something which was sensed, like a piece of ice may cause you while touching it sense its cold temerature, or the chilly pepper may cause you while tasting it sense its cool chilly effect... :D Basically, sensetion stands for something we do pay mentally or physically our attention to... and those are definetely noticed events... Therefore, the antonym to sensation is (D) unnoticed event. Does that make sense? Regards, Svetlana
  15. Hey CharlieG, you have enough time to bounce your Q, so do stay on the constant course of preparation! :) Regarding geometry scope on GRE: all geometry theory you need to apply when solving the Q problems is of pretty essentiality... You might have already felt that if you started your PowerPoint practicing (otherwise, I strongly suggest you try it). All geometry you need to be confident with, is reviewed in short in the Math Review pdf which you can find both on the official GRE website and within the PowerPrep software. Nothing more, believe me... But one small advice: on the real test, there are some geometry questions which are among the difficult ones and require clear understanding of the question. They might seem resulting in the D answer but virtually they will never have such an answer and require your finding the smart and quick solution which will bring you to some more definite (than D option suggests) answer. Take care of that. HTH, Svetlana
