Also, when you called to get feedback on your applications, did you ask to speak with anyone in particular or did the department secretary just share notes from the admission committee? Thanks so much for all the advice in your posts. It's good to know that there is a community willing to share insights!
I hear you- the anxiety is really overwhelming. I really did not expect it to be this difficult, and I am not sure what I will do if i don't get into any of the programs (sitill waiting to hear back from 3 schools). I thought I had a pretty solid application- I guess my thought now is do I reapply next year or call it a day and move on to developing a career elsewhere?
I am officially rejected by Stanford, but also have not heard from UPenn, Cornell, or UMass. I have seen posts from people who say they were accepted to these three, so I think they are unofficial rejections. Still waiting on a few...
Thanks for the vote of confidence, nothingleft! I'm hoping that you are right, but it's definitely shaken my confidence. Are you also applying to English PhD programs? If so, what has transpired with your admission results?
I think you're right- not a good omen for me. At this point I would feel lucky to get in anywhere- I applied to six schools, got rejected from one, and have not heard from two that seem to have sent out acceptances already. :(
Right now I am so tense as I see people posting acceptances to schools that I haven't yet heard from. I'm just assuming that I got rejected- and judging by the method of delivery, I am dreading getting anything in the mail. A letter in the mailbox seems like a bad sign.
I saw that there were a number of posts from people who were accepted to Cornell. I am guessing that Cornell sent out all their acceptances already and those of us still waiting to hear got rejected.
