  1. I believe that the continuation requirement is 60. And if one decided to study seriously throughout the term, then it should not be a major impediment.
  2. Cambridge is stronger in theoretical metrics - not a lot of people doing applied IO/labor.
  3. Hi guys, I am trying to run a IV regression on a limited dependent variable model with panel data. Any idea whether STATA (or similar statistical softwares) has any modules for this purpose ? Best.
  4. I do not particularly know about the other GD curriculum, but the GD at Cambridge usually prepares you more than enough for the consequent MPhil Econ. In fact, I have been told by current PhD students that Diploma students continuing to to further degrees usually tend to perform better than their cohorts.
  5. Why can't Man Utd have a prominent economist supporting them ? Time to convince Sir J. Mirrlees I guess. This clarifies my favorite team as well :>)
  6. There is the EPRG group at Cambridge headed by David Newbery. Check it out.
  7. Tilburg in Europe is pretty strong in Ex/Bh (with guys like Noussair) and I would definitely consider it to be a Top 10.
  8. Not mine. Only 1 guy got a grade above B- in the class. He had this weird idea that Real Analysis is (extremely) difficultly-marked across the globe, and he didn't want to be anti-establishment. :yuck:
  9. Yes, it's always advisable to complete the minimum math sequence at your UGrad. In Europe, I think you'll be competitive at places like Tilburg and UPF, provided you have a really good GRE score. You also might think of applying to some of the 2-year programs in UK: Cambridge, LSE, Oxford etc.
  10. As far as I know, the top 1 % of NUS UGrads usually end up in Top 20 Econ PhDs. I am not sure whether it can be extended to Masters students as well.
  11. Just read-up introductory wooldridge. Its well explained and can be picked up easily.
  12. If I am not mistaken, the top placements of South American MA programs rivals/exceeds those of the best programs in US/UK/EUR.
  13. If you are thinking about Idi Amin, then he's from Uganda. :) (Unless there are other cannibals roaming out there).
  14. I would also generally agree with the previous poster in saying that NYU MA is generally not a good option for PhD progression. Also, the funding issue is pretty bleak (if that is of concern to you).
