  8. As a veteran of the forum I wish you best of luck ! I can however give you only one advice. Stay away from the forum during notifications period.
  9. try to impove or to refresh your maths only!
  10. Just 2 quick points 1)You will not going to make it without the support of a least one of the professors of your current program and without informing the program you are applying to how are you doing in your currenr program. That will be a killer! 2)If you you need a visa it will be better to verify that you will not going to have probleme getting a new visa by hidden that you are currently in a US proram.Just consider the case that the program could find out your cheating because of that!

  14. Some programs invited me for an interview. What should I expect to be asked and how should I prepare better myself? http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-business/129606-interview-preparation.html http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/130466-phone-interview.html http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/131620-interview-position-as-teaching-assistant-hec-lausanne.html http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-business/131853-interview-tips-rconomics-phd-program.html http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/109691-kellogg-interview.html http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/132103-phd-economics-interview.html http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-business/128826-interview-invitation-form-uark-any-suggestions.html
  15. Agree with my fellow TMers.Unless you don't have a special relation with him/her you should avoid write him/her. For a special relation I do not mean you met him/her once professionally at a conference or elsewhere. .In most of the cases it will be ignored or you will get a formal reply. You can ask however from your recommenders if they are willing to try to put a word for you to people they might know at the schools you are applying to. That will be more helpful!
  16. What about George Marios Angeletos(MIT) ?If not for this year perhaps he is a good candidacy for the future...on the other hand he is not a US citizen...
  17. MIT is a special case particularly when it comes to funding. Besides Jeeves was placed in WL at his time.More generally some school will not care about your funding as they fund everybody. For others funding will be crucial
  18. Please allow me to write this brief email for you
  19. I do not have much time now but what I would say is that you need to attract the attention perhaps by writing a good model. But for a student building up a model is hard.Besides that is why you want to go to grad school!
  20. I had research experience at important institution before going to grad school. .What really matters is the LOR you will get from( there if any) and how you will convey this experience in terms of profile boost!
  21. I misread visits for visa...Anyway my country is a member of the VISA waiver program....
  22. Just make sure if you are asked if you plane to stay in the US after you finish your studies to say NO. Say that you wish to return in your country to contribute its development
  23. Since it is the end of the admission session let's continue the tradition by nominating the new Antichron for 2011 .If you don't know who is Antichron and what is this prize about check my old friend Canuckomist's post here.http://www.www.urch.com/forums/phd-economics/110783-time-honoured-tradition-continues-who-new-antichron.html Let the nominations begin.....
