I totally agree with A. The author claims that "more than twice as many citizens are now enjoying the arts", that means the number of citizens enjoying the arts increase twice. A says "most visitors to one museum also visit the other two", that means 30,000 citizens who visit the first museum also visit the other two museums, the number of tickets sold increases but the actual number of citizens who like arts does not increase. This underminds the author's claim.

I was thinking of B and C, finally picked C. Can't be D. The passage mentions the rate, but D talks about the number. They are not the same. E is just an example (not the main idea) A is not proper.

E first came in my mind too, but I didn't pick it up because E says"Practical considerations are most important in the selection of a subject for a biography"while para 2 says " Some of the reasons are purely practical." Anyway, I didn't choose the right answer either.

IMO E For protection from predators, as well as from desert temperature extremes, tortoises of all ages burrow into the earth. However, if rabbits and rodents are scarce, larger mammalian predators may dig tortoises out of their burrows, devouring even mature tortoises despite their hardened shells.
