Hi, Given a chance I would have selected Penn state. My reason for doing so 1) Better school overall which makes this easier for me in the long run. 2) Bigger and better usually equals more exposure for overall development 3) Quality of students around you is more competitive 4) More money to spend ;) CONGRATULATIONS !!! for the offer. Dear All, I havent heard anything (positive) from the schools till now and doubt I will get into the schools I applied :(( (poor by more than 1000$ ). Can anybody suggest some other schools which have late deadlines or other computer science/operation research deaprtments I can apply to. Any help is highly appreciated. Jaideep

No news is a good news. Give them a call and you will know for sure. Most probably I am rejected since the guy over there said he cant find my name in the admission list. I dont know about the update and other stuff but I guess if you are in states then you should get the letter in a week from now. I would again recommend calling them up for uptodate information. Yes in general MS students are supported after seeing sufficient potential in them after their first semester. You might be even lucky to show that before you start through personal meething with faculty there. In fact there is some hidden advantage in here since you are free to try different professors for your research while still working towards your MS degree.

Hey Murboy, Are you going to mail back asking if they can tell anything specific why your application was rejected. THis can help others who are reading these posts. And again dont get disappointed we have lot more to go. btw I havent heard from any University yet. Jaideep

There have been instances reported earlier about the spying that goes between Ivy league schools. I personally know about one person who was rejected and then reconsidered by Berkeley because he got a call from MIT. Jaideep

Hi, I really appreciate your response. More isnt really more for me. But was interesting to note that you have vast industrial experience and job scene/monetary benefits are not really the motivating factor for you. The reason I asked this question was as I stated earlier, my inhibitions to continue academics even after my MS without any industrial experience. Some of the PhD scholars say it helps to have experience and then continue your PhD but was wondering if anybody actaully comes back to school after proven experience. It was nice to know your story. Hey , Thats nice. CONGRATULATIONS !!! I wanted to apply to UCSD but my AGRE score was bad enough to take me to the negative side of the admission decision so I dropped UCSD. I am curious about one thing though. We are seeing couple of people on this group with substantial work experience and who are coming back to school. Can I ask what is the motivation factor for coming back to school since I am a fresher and if I get admitted would be starting my PhD directly after acquiring my MS in CS from UTD. Any comments.
