how many of you took out a loan for grad school, how much was it and for which school were you willing to do that - lets see!

hm...is it me or is berkeley this year not as "popular" as in previous years? threads about berkeley are quite dead :) have fun over there and tell us everything you think is important to know!

let me paraphrase it then: would you pay for the first year in Berkeley (being your far best offer), if you know you will get TA for 16000 dollars from 2nd year on?

i think they give you 16000 and then its up to you for summer: you can work or go home. but if you need to get residency I guess you have to stay there for the first summer... a bit hard for internationals, not seeing your family for a LOOONG time :(

I hope this thread is not open somewhere else already - if it is, i will delete it. my question is: how many people got first-year funding (if you get 1st year I am assuming you get it for 4) at Berkeley and want to DECLINE their offer? :D another thing: do you think 16000$ is enough for one year to survive at Berkeley?
