  1. A counter-advice about pacing (that worked wonders for me): IMO pacing can be adjusted with even 10 days to go for the test. The main thing to focus is accuracy/hit rate. If your accuracy is consistently up to the mark, then pacing will come out of necessity as you do more and more prep tests. In the initial stages of your prep, dont hesitate to take even 10 minutes on a single question if thats what it takes to GET THE CONCEPT CLEAR ! I have even spent 1-2 hours on 10 SC questions during my prep, understanding why the wrong answers are actually wrong. Almost every question has been discussed on all the forums (TM/beatthegmat/manhattangmatforums) multiple times with many valuable concepts and insights contributed by users/instructors. Dont be afraid to "waste" time on a single question if it helps you to get a concept right ! This is true for those in the early stages of prep. Dont fret about timing yet.
  2. ^ yes, you should expect both quant and verbal to be tougher/trickier than OG/GPrep since you've definitely come across some of the Gprep questions while doing OG or vice versa. Expect the real test to be tougher and do your best to stay above that level. Then, on the real test, you'll feel and do much better. All the best !
  3. this is ridiculous !!! im surprised you didnt file a complaint with Pearson VUE ! i definitely would have . they didnt provide you with earplugs ? damn im so angry i feel like coming over to patna and demolishing that building myself !!! and a computer coaching centre to top all that ! how can they pull that off ??? i must admit 690 is an awesome score for what you went through! this should warn others against booking their test at that centre.
  4. congrats and gr8 score, but you almost revealed a live GMAT question. looking for trouble ??? pls edit that out and be careful what you post !

  6. Calorie restriction produces similar results in humans as it does in rats and mice. --> NOT STATED IN THE ARGUMENT, AND "HUMANS" IS A VERY BROAD TERM, WE ARE CONCERNED ONLY WITH THOSE MODERATELY OV.WT. INDIVIDUALS IN OUR RESEARCH. Humans who reduce their calorie intake by at least 25 percent on a long-term basis will live longer than they would have had they not done so. --> NOT STATED IN THE ARGUMENT, AND "HUMANS" IS A VERY BROAD TERM, WE ARE CONCERNED ONLY WITH THOSE MODERATELY OV.WT. INDIVIDUALS IN OUR RESEARCH, THIS IS VERY VAGUE USAGE OF THE GIVEN FACTS. "HUMANS", "WILL" ARE NOT TERMS SUPPORTED BY THE GIVEN ARGUMENT. Calorie intake is directly correlated to insulin level in moderately overweight individuals. --> NOT STATED IN THE ARGUMENT, WHAT IF AFTER A LEVEL OF REDUCTION IN CALORIE INTAKE, INSULIN LEVEL STOPS REDUCING Individuals with low insulin levels are healthier than individuals with high insulin levels. --> NOT STATED IN THE ARGUMENT, WHAT IF TOO LOW INSULIN LEVEL KILLS/WEAKENS ? Some individuals in the study reduced their calorie intake by more than 25 percent. --> BINGO ! AT LEAST THIS CAN BE INFERRED BY THE STATEMENT "48 moderately overweight people, who each reduced their calorie intake by at least 25 percent"
  7. The material i mentioned above does not need even a week to be completed, but if you analyze every option and understand every trick/reasoning applied and in doing so, spend a month with this stuff, i'd call it time well spent.
  8. Since you need a crash course - quant - last 50-70 ques from OG11 for DS & PS each + sets + 800score tests verbal - u're right, it does and will take a longer duration to develop this but still worth a shot since u're really short on time - last 30 ques from OG11 of each section + sets These should help you add approx 30-50 points but u never know, on a good G-day u might cross ur own expectations! Take GMATPrep and sets seriously and under proper testing conditions/environment. All the best !
  9. to answer your question, NO. here, toy around with this, it'll give you a fair idea about scoring: GMAT Score Calculator
  10. for time management, u shud take as many software tests (CBT's) as possible. Always take full tests under timed conditions. Do at least 4-5 of those to get a grip on time. Also, it will help if you draw a time grid just before starting a test. It will look something like this --> ---1:15------1:00------0:45------0:30------0:15------0:00--- ---0/41------9/41------18/41-----27/41-----36/41----41/41-- the upper line is the time remaining (in 15 minute intervals) lower line shows number of questions that should be done by the above time. so by this, u should have done 0 questions with 1:15hrs remaining 9 questions with 1:00hrs remaining 18 questions with 0:45hrs remaining and so on ... this way u check the time after every 15 mins (for verbal only. I think Quant is easily manageable, but if you want to draw a timeline for quant, make that 8 questions for each interval) this timeline is a little skewed (it will prompt you to go faster than actually required) because you will never be able to actually catch up with it, but it'll give you a sense of urgency. It is ok to stay a few questions behind this timeline. go to this link for loads of GMAT material Graduate Studies in USA - Powered by CO.CC Finally, give yourself much time for preparation and take GMATPrep near the test, as many times as possible. Hope this helps !
  11. if im not wrong, it should be C. because the logic here is --> 1) sunville has max no of weekend tourists 2) shadyville hotel has more weekend tourists than any other hotel 3) both are in the same state, but far apart so, out of a total number of tourists, max go to sunville, but no hotel in sunville has more tourists than does the one in shadyville. so if hotel shadyville has X tourists, then for sunville to have more than X tourists (we know that it definitiely has more tourists), it must have more than one hotel, and none of those hotel will have more than X tourists, but overall tourist population of sunville will be more than that of shadyville (more than X)
  12. A newly discovered painting on wooden panel by Michelangelo must have been completed after 1507 but before 1509. It cannot have been painted earlier than 1507 because one of its central figures carries a coin that was not minted until that year. It cannot have been painted after 1509 because it contains a pigment that Michelangelo is known to have abandoned when a cheaper alternative became available in that year. Which of the following is an assumption on which the argument depends? http://www.manhattangmat.com/OnlineExams/Images/radAnswerOff.gif No stocks of the abandoned pigment existed after 1509. --> IRRELEVANT http://www.manhattangmat.com/OnlineExams/Images/radAnswerOff.gif Michelangelo did not work on the painting over the course of several years. --> CORRECT. IF WE DO NOT ASSUME THIS, THEN THE CONCLUSION CAN BE FALSIFIED EVEN THOUGH THE EVIDENCE STILL HOLDS TRUE. If we DO assume this, then conclusion is true and painting must've been made between 1507 and 1509. http://www.manhattangmat.com/OnlineExams/Images/radAnswerOff.gif The coin depicted in the painting was known to general public in 1507. --> IRRELEVANT http://www.manhattangmat.com/OnlineExams/Images/radAnswerOff.gif The wooden panel on which the painting was executed cannot be tested accurately for age. --> IRRELEVANT http://www.manhattangmat.com/OnlineExams/Images/radAnswerOn.gif Michelangelo's painting style did not change between 1507 and 1509. --> IRRELEVANT
  13. wrong section :-) this is CR ! btw, despite --> even though, although because --> due to, caused by
  14. I used only one scrap-paper in verbal, and one in AWA section. Use a separate set for quant, replace it after your quant ends. The scrap sheets are enough for quant (5 laminated, spiral binded, graph-sheets, both sides usable, u get to write with a thin tip black marker). It will feel exactly the same if you get a regular A4 size sheet (or a graph-paper to be more precise) laminated and write on it with a soft tip marker. I suggest you use both sides to avoid asking for a new set of scraps, if you've written down some important formulae. Also, dump your formulas when u're going thru the initial instructions, or during your 1 minute instruction screen that appears before the quant section actually starts. Dont take that time off your 75 minutes. I used my 1 minute interval to quickly draw a time grid to help me keep track of the time. Also, u can jot down something when u're going thru the 10screen instructions (which include rules, confidentiality, blah blah) which u've already read on your GMATPrep (5 minute duration)

  16. For topic wise quant try to get your hands on some manhattangmat material. I used R.S.Aggarwal(Indian Author) Mathematics for MBA since i had been through it before, if you can get that, it should help you A LOT. But im an engineer so some of it was inbuilt :) but i think if you can grasp the OG well, then you can graduate to 800score.com quant tests, and with their good explanations, you can improve your level slightly higher than required. Then of course, as i suggested earlier, manhattangmat tests should be done in the second half of your prep, they're not so easy, but definitiely useful.
  17. i have, check all columns again, i've specified no of correct ans for each test for both quant and verbal :-)
  18. Thanks gmatnov12. On the test, i remember quant questions getting sneakier (not tougher really, just a little trickier). I did blank out on the first question and that could've made me nervous, but after looking at the question for 20-30 seconds, i knew i wont be solving it, so i started pluggin in values, and within 2 minutes, i had it !!! I suggest this strategy be used on quant whenever u blank out. u'll always know whether the (inequality) question is doable or not within 20 or so seconds, then start plugging. More often than not, u'll get it ! YES, number properties / inequalities / playing around with your x's and y's is most important on your GMAT ! If u've done and understood those on GMATPrep, sets, OG (standard stuff), u're good to go ! According to my evaluation of GMAT maths, u're not required to solve hard questions, just the ability to bend around variables to get to the required expression. Did not get any prob/comb questions, so i suggest you maintain a low-moderate level in those, no need to go into details (i've read about 5 other reviews by ppl who got no prob/comb) I also got a tricky geometry question on which i couldnt solve so i gussed the answer based on my estimate of the drawn figure (since it did not mention "figure not drawn to scale"), and i must've had it right ! another life-saver strategy for you :-)
