  2. Universities for your profile NCSU, UTA, UTD, UFL, Texas Tech, FIT USC - Yes UC - No SDSU - Yes
  3. Looks like you will have to go with $125 - College with GPA option.
  4. One of the common mistakes made by students is something you are have posted. If you had read ETS website about registration process for GRE, you could have saved money for reporting GRE scores. Its too late, don't worry about it now. Concentrate on your GRE. Good Luck.
  5. Check with your university PTU if they have similar options. If not ask UNC, how long they can wait and what is their policy regarding submitting degree certificate after 1 year delay. With universities there is always a way around for problems. They will work with students.
  6. GRE Exam Study Plan - 1) First evaluate your current skills. (you cannot get to your destination without knowing where you are right now) 2) Prepare study plan based on your current skills. 3) Allocate more time per day for your weak areas. 4) Get/collete study materials when u start GRE prep. 5) Don't search for GRE materials daily (waste of time)
  7. Here is a link to 1 Month GRE Study Plan - If you are getting 1310 in power prep, you can expect to score +/- 50 of that score range, unless you don't mess up during the exam. Right now you have to concentrate on getting the answers right and completing test on time. Don't spend too much time on learning new strategies. Thats something you should have done when you started preparing. Take lots of practice test and improve your test taking confidence. Looks like you need to improve your quants section. Take atleast 2 full tests per day in quants. Spend more time solving the incorrect problems. Try to make a note of new short cut techniques you can learn.
  8. Almost impossible to select universities based on criteria you have listed. Security + Safe + Scholarship. Either target schools that offer courses in security and try to get scholarship after you come to university or find schools that is perfect fit. With GRE 1240 you have to apply to schools that require GRE of 1000 and above to be considered for scholarship (definite shot). I doubt someoen can help you with schools that offer information security based programs. Thats something you have to research and figure out.
  9. If you are looking for pure Biotech programs (research), then schools you have listed are good. If you want Biotech + management then consider Keck or other PSM programs.
  10. You have already sent 2 emails. I would wait for few more days. Another email will look bad. Wait for a week or two, then see if you can schedule to meet him in person.
  11. For Top schools you need to be above 90th percentiles in GRE Scores + research experience + strong LOR and SOP.
  12. Why do you want to apply for MS+PhD. You can directly apply for PhD in Chemical Engineering. Low AWA score can be compensated with your TOEFL score. With 1500, you should be fine.
  13. GRE Percentile scores are calculated (usually) over period of last 3 years. Its general mis-understanding that percentile score is based on test takers on that specific day. More info can be found at GRE Score use guide from ETS.
  14. You can retake Powerprep multiple times. Only few question will be repeated. Try to get Nova Press - GRE book CD's.
  15. Scoring in GRE is not based on how many questions you get it right. First 4 to 8 questions determine how much your upper and lower score range will fall. (like 700 to 800) Rest of the questions determine score between 700 to 800. I have seen someone who got over 10 questions incorrect and still got 780 in Powerprep.
  16. Latest Powerprep - which is PowerPrep II is for Revised GRE Format. If you had a copy of Powerprep for current model, you can start taking practice test in older version first. You can take multiple tests, then 2 weeks before the test date, start taking test in the latest version of powerprep.
  17. Its late in May and schools and there are schools that still accept applications, but you will have less choide of courses/majors offered in such schools. You can try schools that have Quarter systems, instead of Semester.
  18. University of Arizona - No Arizona State University - Maybe University of Colorado - Boulder - Maybe University of Florida - No University of South Florida - Maybe Harvard University - You got to be kidding! Washington University in St Louis - No Ohio State University - No University of Houston (Cullen) - Yes University of Texas--Arlington - Maybe University of Virginia - No Virginia Tech - No
  19. You can call Admissions Office and after you verify your details, they can give you the required information to you.
  20. You got some tough decision to make. Chances of getting aid is tough is all the 4 schools. But, you can rule out NJIT for many reasons. I would say UTD or Clemson. But, you have to find answers to many factors.. Aid, Cost of Living, Part Time Jobs, CPT, Program Structure. a) Illinois inst of tech - No b) University of texas dallas - 50% c) New jersey inst of tech - No d) clemson - 50%
  21. Value of recommendation letter will not change. You can still use those letters even after few years provided that letter was written based on you applying to Grad School.
  22. I have done my Compuet Engineering from Mumbai University in June 2008. I have a gpa of about 3.7/4. I also gave my GRE and got 1480 and 118/120 in Toefl. >> 1480 is very good GRE Score. I had gone to georgia Tech for MS in Finance for 1 sem, however I didnt really like the course (not my cup of tea) so i came back. Now i wanna reapply for MS , but in CS or its related fields. >> you could have changed to MS in CS while you were doing MS in Finance. but, you can still apply for Gtech for MS in CS. I have worked as an grad assistant in Gatech. I wanted to know which colls would it be possible for me to get an admit into with aid. I would really like to know which colls will offer aid or RA/TA. >> with you score apply for schools that have minimum GRE requirement of 1200+ to get Aid. i have also taken up some certification courses in JAVA and .NET. will those help? >> Not really, but good to send the certifications as part of the application.

    too low CGPA

With CGPA of 2.68 you still have good chance to get admission, if you GRE Score is high enough. Practice a lot and spend more time preparing for GRE. It will help your score improve.
  24. What shuld be my minimum GRE score to get in to univ like UT south western medical centre dallas, columbia univ, etc Check the Webiste for Minim GRE Score Requirements - Almost all the schools will have that data. 2) Do i have to give TOFEL too?? Yes, TOEFL is mandatory for International Students. 3) what are the things which might help me in increasing score .. Hardwork and Practice ( a lot) 4) for wch colleges do i have to give subject test too.. Depending on the school. TO be considered for Aid, you might have to take Subject tests, but tis not mandatory.
  25. Yes you are right. When you get your score card, it will show the schools you have reported the scores. If in case you haven't reported it, then you have to forward the scores later when you submit the application.
