  1. "above reproach" "mount a response" These were in the Big Book Test 2
  2. a. dote : like b. lag : stray c. vex : please d. earn : desire e. recast : explain I missed this so upon checking the definition of upbraid, I found upbraid to mean reproach. Synonyms. I cannot find two other words that serve as synonyms. Dote means excessive liking, not to like. The other words are unrelated. Upon coming up with a bridge please check to make sure your definitions referred to are dictionary based and one you recall from memory.
  3. I'm not learning any words now, but when I did, I learned about 200 words per session, with about 2 sessions per week, until I learned 80% of the words in the Barron's book. That was enough, so I stopped.
  4. I don't believe that - does anyone have a definitive answer?
  5. Hey Rashmi, Those answers just made sense to me :) I'll probably take the GRE in December. How about you? Ying
  6. Thanks for responding, but, I don't buy that argument. i.e., can you please tell me how you arrived at that conclusion? I believe an augury IS "An omen; prediction", not a TYPE of prediction.
  7. "move aimlessly" seems to be the antonym of "move with direction," not "move in haste", or do I have this wrong? How about this one? moralistic : principled A) simplistic : unsophisticated B) pedantic : learned C) positivistic : empirical D) dogmatic : prejudiced E) fantastic : imaginative
  8. Do you remember some of the verbal questions you had trouble with when you took on the GRE, or remember any of the questions? For instance, were there particular vocabulary words that you just couldn't quite remember, or an analogy to which you couldn't determine the bridge. I'm taking the GRE in December and just wondering how the test went. Thanks!
  9. WORSHIP:SACRIFICE A.generation:pyre B.burial:mortuary C.weapon:centurion D.massacre:invasion E.prediction:augury I know this has been posted at least a couple times before. Can someone come up with a precise bridge that agrees with dictionary definitions? Thanks
  10. And touchy is sensitive "in an extreme/unrealistic sort of way"? Please explain.
  11. I saw this word somewhere, and not sure if it is a gre word, but just in case, what does it mean? Here is the context: There is no website for OWLs because it's just a group I am starting as sort of a subgroup of my target client base. You can see my website at http://www.DebraBruce.com. Lawyers (even OWLs) tend to like things that are pretty corporate. No fru-fru. Quick mock-ups are helpful in my decision process. -Debra
  12. Thanks, Erin. I knew what veritable means but just didn't know how it fits the sentence. Makes more sense now. Does anyone know the explanation for the second one?
