  1. By complementary factor i meant this: Among the factors of 68 are 1,2,34,4,.... The product of 2 and 4 is 8. The product of 2 and 34 is 68. This is what i meant by comp factors, where u and v are factors of 68 (or any number) such that u*v = 68 (or any other number)
  2. I meant (Area of sector (the 120 degree sector) - area of triangle (the 120 - 30 - 30 degree triangle)) * 2 the 120-30-30 triangle is the triangle formed at the circumference by the intersection of the circles(the non-centre points) and the centre of one of the circles. There will be 2 such triangles. Basically both these combined will form a 120-60-120-60 Rhombus.

    LCM Toughie!!

Guys, I was outta town and so cudn't post. I shall shortly post the solution of this one.
  4. I am getting (4*pi - 3*sqrt(3))/6 (Area of sector (the 120 degree sector) - area of triangle (the 120 - 30 - 60 degree triangle)) * 2

    LCM Toughie!!

    LCM of a and b = 1000 LCM of b and c = 2000 LCM of c and a = 2000 How many ordered triplets (a,b,c) are there?
  6. Well, on actually workin it out, I am getting the foll: 6,8,10,14,15,21,22,26,27,33. Now if u add them u get 182.
  7. You are right about the factors. There should be 4 factors in all. so numbers of the form a^3, and ab, where a,b are prime. I haven't actually calculated it, but if you have not missed out any number in between then your answer should be correct.
  8. This Question is bit of a brain twister!!!!
  9. No shooter. Its this: He would have reached 12 minutes earlier had he waited at the station. Which means had he waited, his wife would have come as per the normal train timings. 12 minutes were saved coz andy walked a bit. The question asks at what time would he reach home if his wife were to pick him up as soon as the train arrived at an earlier timing. (The wife forewarned.....meaning that she knows that the train is coming early and she'd be at the station as soon as Andy arrived at the revised time. The saving would be more now coz andy would not walk but instead be traveling by car all along back home.
  10. Queen, I like your approach. Its the right way. However, to shorten it, a few considerations: (7x+6y)/420 . 420 = 5*2*3*2*7 Now, just see that 2 cannot be cancelled. Reason being 2 wont be a factor of x as x and 60 are coprime.however, 6y is def a multiple of 2. therfore multiple of 2 + non multiple of 2 cannot combine(under addition) to form a multiple of 2. similarly 3 and 7 cannot be cancelled. Only 5 can be once we get 7x+6y as a factor multiple of 5 keeping in mind x is co prime with 60 and y with 70. dats all. divide 420 by 5 and you have 84. You got the correct answer finally. dont worry about the time. I think these Q's are harder than wat GMAT will present. However, if u can partially crack these tough ones, you stand a good chance on the GMAT.
  11. A number is equal to the product of its factors (divisors) excluding 1 and the number itself. Find the sum of first 10 such numbers. I will post the OA soon.
