  3. If someone has a problem with the pic ---> 237 is my score P.S. This score is a result of my preparation from the beginning of the 2002. You can asume that I hadn't got almost any previous knowledge of English until then. I took the test on the 26. of Novemer 2002.
  4. http://www.TestMagic.com/images/uploaded/erdtek_toefl.jpg -------------------------- The Days Before the TOEFL- -------------------------- I took 2 Preparation tests from Barron's. I got the nearly equal scores. Listening - 8 errors, Grammar - 0/1 error/s, Reading - 4 errors I knew that after 1 week I will take the TOEFL, but that did not bother me at all, as if my future doesn't depend on my scores. I even wasted my time playing volleyball, listening to music and browsing the internet. There were also some family problems to be solved. So, I did not do something useful in the days before my exam except reading few essays and taking the PowerPrep. Oh, I received th worst score on Listening - 16 points. I have no idea why, ,I know that this is my worst part of the exam, the I got 21 points for my relief. Acctulally my first PowerPrep exam gave me the range 193-247. I cannot remember the second one. -------------------------- The Day Before the TOEFL-- -------------------------- I woke up early, got my grammar and reviewed nearly everything I had studied. In the afternoon I went for a walk, but went back home because of the cold, read again few harder-for-me essays. -------------------------- The Night Before the TOEFL -------------------------- At 9:00 pm I tried to fall asleep but coudn't. I was rolling in the bed and was thinking about my friends, how they would feel if I leave Bulgaria. I was thinking about my family, my imaginary future life, my failure or success and so on. I became sweaty and could not sleep for 7-8 hours, then I had to get up and get on the train. My exam was at 2:00 pm, I got an earlier train (7:05 am) taking into account that if something would happen, I would be able to get on the next train or get a bus to my test center in Sofia. I put on my clothes and my rucksack in which were some essays to read in the train. I went out went to the station during that horrible night. -------------------------- The Hours Before the TOEFL -------------------------- I sit down on some seat in the train, put my rucksack near me and sighed. Then I accidentally heard an old woman saying "Is this the train to Dimitrowgrad?" and I thought "Old woman :)", but the reply was "Yes". Then a chill shivers went down my spine, I rised and asked "Isn't this the train to Sofia?" and they replyed again "No". OMG, I am in the train in the opposite direction, I got my rucksack and get off the train immediately. I ran to my train and get on it. At last. After few minuntes the train moved off. I supposed that I would write on some essay of number 100-185 and I begin reading the essays from number 116. After 3 hours reading and 1/2 hour relaxing the the train arrived at the station in Sofia and I get out at the station. My damned day continued with vain attempts to call my friend from seven telephone booths. However the 8. booth and the piece of advice of an old lady to put a coin in the phone were the beam of light I saw. After 30 minutes alone in Sofia I met my friend and his sister and we found where is the test center. I was told to arrive at 1:00 pm (1 hour before my official exam). By then, I had a mercurial conversations with my friends ... -------------------------- The TOEFL ---------------- -------------------------- The Listening part(30 Qs). There were 11 short questions and the other 19 - long. If I am not wrong, I was given a question from PowerPrep! (about a woman that helps a man, who has missed some course or something). There was one very long conversation. As I was thinking that it is to its end (there were a pause) and I had understood everything, the conversation continued and I misunderstood the last part of it. Themes: Geography - Pangeau? ; Urban ... ; Campus Conversation ; In the library ; about an animal that makes predators go away from its nest There wes give to choce 3 answers from 5 ! The Grammar (20 Qs). Everything was OK until I blocked up and spent about 2 minutes on that question. Then I became angry and may misanswered another question. The Reading (55 Qs). Absolutely Very Easy Reading. Almost all words were well-known. I thought I'll have no wrong answers but in fact I got 26 points. Too Disappointing! Themes: Diamond - qualities ; Different ways of silver making ; rattlesnakes sounds ; New York development in the 1830-1840's ; horses, useful for nomades; I had a question : which is the oppsite of nomedes --> people who lead settled way of life Words with my answers: lashed to = tied to ; placid = calm ; staggering = astonishing (crowded, important) ; moreover = additionally ; range of = scope There was such this EASY question : That reffers to ? in this sentence: Its buzzing is similiar to that of an insect. The Essay. I was given 108. theme : "Some people believe that the best way of learning about life is by listening to the advice of family and friends. Other people believe that the best way of learning about life is through personal experience. Compare the advantages of these two different ways of learning about life. Which do you think is preferable? Use specific examples to support your preference." I wrote it fast, and wasn't thinking very much what I had been writing. I think that the organization was good. -------------------------- The Hours After the TOEFL- -------------------------- I poured out my Coca Cola on my jacket. I had a problem with a telephone booth. I missed my bus stop. Such a bad day and night ! -------------------------- The Night After the TOEFL- -------------------------- I had a headache ... -------------------------- The Day After the TOEFL -- -------------------------- Relieved ... Refreshing ... -------------------------- The Days After the TOEFL-- -------------------------- No TOEFL ... No Problems I prepare my documents for Germany. I have the requirements :) Thank You All For The Contribution ! :D This Is The Best Forum Ever Been ! Subject edited by Erin for new change/utility.

  12. Hello ciquita0, I pointed out some mistakes, but you should know that this is only my opinion, so may I be wrong for some corrections. If you have any questions, post them :) #49: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Face-to-face communication is better than other types of communication, such as letters, email, or telephone calls. Use specific reasons and details to support your answer. Face-to-face communication is the primarly primary mean of communication between people and I think that new technology the new technologies did not replace it and it is still the best way to communicate. For example , I remember about a test that some psihologists psychologists made with normal people on the street as subjects??cannot understand - vague??. They ?? who ?? were asked different simple questions and was observed that many of them used very much their body language when talking. Some of them even touched the other person on its shoulder. First of all, I think that people need to make themselves understood and need to interact with the each other. They want to see that they are listened to and that the others care for them and are interested in what they have to say. The best way to do it is face-to-face communication. Second of all, when I write a letter, I can't cannot express everything that I feel. Both correspondents have to use their imagination to interact. When I write an email, even if I can use emoticons to express some of my feelings, I still can't cannot achieve what I would do/achive by communicating face-to-facely?. The discussion is limited and I have to wait for an answer to continue it. Third of all, the telephone calls are closest to face-to-face communication as you can hear the other's voice, you can hear him laughing and you can reach him almost any time you want. But as telephone calls are still expensive you have to limit yourself at saying important things. Taking into consideration all the above, I am sure that people still consider face-to-face communication as the best way to communicate as is interactive, cheap and convenient. Sound a little bit awkward to me... think about it ... [V]
  13. Rings, please read this sticky topics before posting: http://www.TestMagic.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1365 http://www.TestMagic.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1105 Otherwise, it is well written, good support of the first question and little support of the second one. It may be scored 5.5 or 5.0 ... How exactly I do not know ... HTH :)
