  1. For the people that got into duke MA program, can i ask you what math classes you have under your belt?
  2. I know this is a little off topic. I am an undergrad. I am trying to plan ahead. I have become very interested in resource and energy economics. Specifically economics of energy infrastructure, sustainability, and possibly forecasting. However, I am also interested in law. I was wondering what careers are out there in which it would be worth getting both a grad degree in econ and a law degree in the the energy, resource, or utility fields? Also does anyone know any schools that specialize in resourse and energy economics or have a good program?
  3. Does anyone know of any law schools that specialize in resource and energy law?
  4. Has anyone ever gotten their MA here, know anyone who has, or are currently enrolled? How is it? What kind of reputation does it have? How competitive are adm? Is it just me or are their adm rather laxed? They dont require GRE. They only require calc I i believe, 2 letters of rec, and either a resume or letter of purpose (not both). Anyone have any info?
  5. Are there any other higher ranked US master programs you would recommend looking into?
  6. Well I have a BA in economics and criminology. I come from a low ranked state school. I have a 3.7 gpa. I have taken a ton of econ courses including Micro and Macro Analysis/theory and Honors Econometics. I have also taken an econ honors thesis class which I worked along side a prof to write a thesis. My math classes were limited to prob/stat and calc I and II in which I got A's. I haven't taken my gre's yet. Could get research experience if I choose from a somewhat well known Phd. I would possibly like to get into economic consulting, policy, corp law, or tax law. Coming from a low ranked UG do i even have a chance of getting into schools like duke, nyu, or usc even with a high gre. I wouldnt be completely against top 20 or 30 schools either. Any sug? I am also willing to take some summer math courses.
  7. I made a similar post in another section with no luck so i decided to try here. I am considering a master program in econ for use in the business/law field. I would like to get my masters in econ before i go to law school. So my question is how competitive are masters programs in econ? What does it take to get into programs like Duke, NYU, etc? Is there as heavy a pref on math as with Phd programs? What are admissions looking for in prosp students for masters programs? Are there any good rankings for econ masters programs in the US?
  8. I have a few questions about econ masters programs. How competitive are econ masters programs? What are some of the higher ranked masters programs? What are some of the middle of he road programs? Are there any reliable rankings for econ masters programs? Are the math req. as high for masters programs as for Phd programs? What do masters programs look for in prosp. students?
