  1. Hey heartiest congrats... Its really commendable that you took the test in such situation. great work... I am very much impressed.....[clap][clap]:notworthy
  2. Hi Conspicuously139. You asked about two things. 1. AWA: FOr AWA read teh standard format that you will find in any GMAT guide and also on this forum. Also once you take a side then write logical experiences that people can easily relate to... Be yourself. Don't change your writing habbit. I didn't used any big words in my essays and just made sure that whatever I write should make sense and should e easily understandable. By this I mean the reader should not be made to read the sentence twice. Follow this approach and you will be good. 2. Prephrasing in must be true questions: With must be true quetions hen you read the stimulus you should know what is the crux or gist of the passage. In other words you paraphrase the passage in your words. hwne you read the option the option which perfectly matches with the crux of stimulus is the corect answer. Now if you are not able to paraphrase then dont wory. Make sure that you understand what you read properly. Try to think what is important for the author and what exactly he is try to convey. If you are on the correct line of thinking then you will choose the correct option once you read the answer options.
  3. Congrats buddy.. Awesome score... All the best......
  4. Hey thank you Mitzi. Good to see your post. I never cursed my Girlfriend. You misread the sentence i guess :(.... Anyways.. Hope your preparation is going well. Looking forward to read your debrief.
  5. Hey thankyou friend. WHich document are you talking about. To improve your C plz go through the CR powerscore bible for GMAT...its a awesome book... this should be your first step towards improving your CR......
  6. Thank you Abhasjha. I remember your CR question. And it should not be around May but nov to december 2008 i guess. I became member of this wonderful forum in sept....
  7. Congratulations my friend. Awesome score.....
  8. PM me your email Id and i shall send you a invitation... i liked the math section of 800score..... Keep on practicing and don't thnk about this now. The more things you do concepts will get wired on your mind and you would be able to solve things fast. So dont think keep on doing things that you are doing....
  9. During my preparation I had put more concentration on Verbal. I did all the toughest and controversial question that I could find on this forum. I feel I was prepared for anything that exam can throw at me. Frankly speaking I found verbal much simpler than my earlier attempt. I understood what Iwas reading and that helped me to solve SC,CR or RC. So this is very important that you should understand what you are reading. This task is difficult under timed manner. Also it requires you to be calm and composed. About RC as mentioned i got 2 very big and two decent passages. Here also if I had panicked I would have missed many questions. But again Iread the passages as they came and understood what the authors wants to convey and tried to think why he wnats to say all that he is saying. Somehow I feel that GMAC does not randomly pick nay passage from any article and form questions on them. The passages are complete in themselves nad make sense. If you read it properly you will understand why the author is writing a passage and what he wants to convey. I am not sure whether you panicked or whether you were really alert while taking yourverbal test. You have to do introspection about how did your really spent those 75 mins of verbal sections. Once you honestly do this excercise I guess you yourself will find what went wrong. I have the OG10 quant solutions. The size of that document is huge to upload here. I will uplaod those document in my esnip folder. Try below link. starmagic321's Stuff eSnips Folder Let me know if you have any other queries.
  10. -Sets M:32 to 34/ 37 V: 30 to 35 /41 -Gprep M:35 to 36/ 37 V: 33 to 36 /41 -LSAT Solved around 200 LSAT CR. Sometimes i did well sometimes not. But the discussion and learning was good. -OG10 M: Almost all correct. V: First time when I did I got around 60 to 70 percent correct. next time i got almost all correct. I did SC and RC twice. -OG11 Same as OG10..... Only differnce is that I did OG11 sc thrice.....
  11. You are always welcome Fif for GMAT. Yes the OG materia ldoes not reflect the exact thing that you see on the exam.As I mentioned before the errors that you see on the exam are same though. So use OG accordingly. Yes you can post yours queries as and when you have. May be you can use this thread itself and many other people can benefit from your queries.
  12. I didn't get your email ID. As I mentioned there is some issue to get the esnip forder link. The link which I get is not working though I have maintained those documents in the shared folder. I will send you intivite once Iget your email ID.
  13. I got my Official Score Today. Scored 5.5 in AWA.....
  14. Thank you bro. You will find all these note in debrief of TBay. Even if you search on esnips you should get these documents. All the best...
  15. Thank you kapil. 1. Yes i guess you got the correct document. 2. For RC I only did OG10 and OG11. I relied on CR preparation to do RC. I just made sure what needs to be taken care of while doing RC. I have mentioned that in my Debrief. 3. Hmmm, this is little tricky. Start with Wren and martin only if your basics are bad. But if you feel they are good then you can do Manhattan Sentence Correction book. And Later in preparation you can use Kaplan 800 for more difficult problems. 4. Yes OG10 and OG11 are different. OG11 contians good explaination for SC problems but Ifound math good in OG10. Even the verbal section is good in OG10. So do try to get OG10 also. I guess yu will get that on esnips.
  16. Thanks a lot Kapil. I took hours to write that only to help people like you. I am glad it was useful to you and you good some motivation from it. All the Best.
  17. Ramily I dont know how to get a comman link to access that folder. I tried pasting it but when i click it from here it doesn't take me there. Please PM me so that I can send you invite to get the files.
  18. Thank you NK5514. Regarding your questions: 1. As i mentioned in my debrief that I didn't had a good idea about all gramatical concepts. I new what is noun, adverb and adjective little well. But Iwas not aware aobout rule around verb, conjunction, preposition etc. In this basic boks I fine tuned my htis concepts. Concepts such as Participle, Gerund, infinitive, subject, object, predicate, phrase, clause, types of sentences, mood of sentences etc. I never completed the book. But i brushed up this concepts and during my studies whenever I came across new grammatical connotation used by othe members I went to the books to understand the meaning. When I use to not get good understanding I use google it and find better explanation. 2. The folder is a shared folder to public. I am not sure why people are not able t oget there. Pleae PM me your email ID and I will send a invite to it so that you can directly access it .
  19. Hey Fif For GMAT. Hmm about your first para. I am not sure what made you write that but just want to say that if any of my sentence made you feel bad then I apologize for that. Its good that you have good background. You would be surprise to hear that my parents even don't know what GMAT is and what does this score means. Anyways, you asked for a partical example of how OG can be used to learn concepts that can be used in actual SC problem. Consider OG10 example 205. In explaination the author mentions below sentences: " Choice E uses the correct verb form, is, but it incorrectly introduces a dependent adverbial although clause into a prepositional phrase (with crests ...). Choice D also makes this error. Such dependent clauses can only occur in the predicates of full clauses. C, the best choice, uses the correct verb form, is, and correctly puts the although clause inside the predicate of the relative clause (that... rapidly)." There are many concepts one can learn here and apply in other real time problems. For example from above we come to know that a depedent clause cannot be used in a prepositional phrase. It has to be used in the predicate of the sentece. If you know this concept and you find any example in actual test where this rule is not respected then you can straight away eliminate that option. Smae way consider OG10 example 260 The author mentions: " The adverbial so that can modify verbs (e.g., decreased) but not nouns (e.g., the decrease)." We learn something here too. So from each example in OG10 and OG11 you will learn some or other concept which you have t oapply in your test. Lets me know if you have any other queries.
  20. Materials I used or in general used by Test magians for Verbal are as mentioned below. OG10 OG11 CR Bible from Powerscore SC1000 CR1000 Adhamjon's Notes Spidy's Notes Kaplan 800 Test Magic Forum. About OG10 and OG11 I feel that they don't reflect the exact difficulty level of the question that you will see on GMAT. Frankly Speaking no material for verbal can be said that reflects exact difficulty level of GMAT question. If you asked me what was closest to GMAT then I woud say GMATPrep Test quetions, Sets (1 to 31) and OG10 and OG11. Now while studying from OG10 and OG11 your aim should not be how many question I got correct or wrong, or how much progress i did from last attempt. Your aim should be to learn rules and concepts the GMAT test makers will test on GMAT. You should concentrate on why particular answeris correct according to GMAT and why particular answer is wrong accordint to them. This is very important. You have to use OG10 and OG11 to understand concepts and not to gauge your performance. You won't be getting same questions on the G day but you will get question which will have same concepts. Even if sentences are big and difficult the concept will be present in one or the other question in OG. Also refer to Test magic form. As I mentioned there are real good people who give there inputs. 800Bob Erin etc people should guide you by their posts.SO go through them. I have uploaded two maths documents under User Id starmagic321 on esnips. The OG document contans all the problem form OG10 which i found nteresting. The other document contians the collection of all hte problems I found good from various sources i refered to for math during my preparation. Please let me know if they were helpful. All the best. Regard, Star_321.
  21. Thank you Tatum. Congrats to you for your achievement. I have read your debrief many times. Though i never posted anytime there i feel that it is sincere and motivating. I wish all the very best for your future. Yes iahve started looking for schools. If you feel to advice me of any thing that i should pay attention to please share. As I have just started this process I don't have any queries as such but will appreciate any inputs from your side. Thank you once again. Take care.
  22. Thank you FIF For GMAT. Regarding you question....yes a healthy diet does matter during your preparation for your test, but it is not necessary that you should have non veg food to make your diet healthy. Remember the primary source of energy is Vegetarian food. Each type of food has its own pros and cons but lets not get into those. Yous ultimate aim should be healthy food, good habbits, proper sleep cycle etc. You should do only things that will keep you optimistic and alert during your preparation. Don't get into fights with your friends and relatives during preparation. Use these people to charge you up. Your primary aim should be to improve yourself along wiht keeping others things is such way so that these help you to achieve your aim. So non veg food should not matter. Secondly , yes your state of mind is the most critical things during the exam. Be calm and composed.Never compare a familiar problem with any problem you had already solved. If there is little cahnge in problem you might find yourself lost if you are not getting the correct answer. Always read the given question and try to solve it by applying the concepts that you know about the respective chapter. his way you won't be diverted. If you feel that you are not able to concentrate properly work on it to improve your concentration. Remember even if you study for years and learned all the chapters and concepts, but you are not able to keep your composure during the exam you will screw your paper, inspite of knowing all the things. I am glad you know that your mental state is important during taking the exam. You have aimed for high marks and I hope you are putting in efforts accordingly. I pray you get the success that you deserve. All the best.
  23. thanks Cartera. From CR1000 if feel first 400 or 500 questions are comparatively easy. But later LSAT questions start and they are a little tricky. But I am sure that in each set (CR1000 is divided into sets of 24 or 25 questions) there are atleast two or three good questions which will trouble you. Your target should be get these correct. Once you are you to taking these queetions you will find the actual test very easy. In each question try to apply the approach which BIble wants us to follow. Keep on Practicing and you will do good. After one time in your preparation it should not matter to you which question is Difficult or easy. You should just solve one question at a time. Never thing whether it is difficult or easy. Understand what it says. Premises. Argument. ANd what the test maker wants us to answer. All the best.
  24. I am attaching the list of Problems I had noted while preparation. One document is from OG10 and and other is general good problems. The Document on OG10 problems also contain a section at the end where I have compiled all the problems which I felt are difficult. I am not able to upload the file as its size is more that allowed size limit. So I have uploaded the document on esnip.com..below are the links Star's GMAT Folder eSnips Folder I have made notes of Grammar rule from Bob, Erin and other members that Ifound useful. Also I have noted the good notes from OG10. If you guys find hte baove notes interesting please let me know wheather I should upload the document on verbal also. I didn't read it often but I guess its good to read it once. Let me know. I am not sure how t oaccess that link. I have uploaded document but don't how to get the link to it by which all those who want it can get it. If anybody knows about this please let me know. The aforementioned name is the name of the folder.
