  1. Manhattan Review and Manhattan GMAT are two totally different companies. In my personal experience I have had better luck with MR's staff and was very satisfied with their services.
  2. Hey Everyone, I'm currently applying to both b-schools and law schools (see my exciting b-school threads!). My profile is this: ~3.0 GPA Cornell studying philosophy 171 LSAT Been working as a freelancer for the year since graduation What do you think my chances are being accepted to: NYU Harvard Columbia Thanks!
  3. Hey Pragmatist, Sounds like we're in pretty similar boats. I recommended Manhattan Review to another fellow in the forum. See the following thread: http://www.www.urch.com/forums/gmat/102858-recent-college-grad-looking-gmat-assistance.html I spoke to their reps on the phone and they were helpful. Not sure of your exact needs or timeframe, but here's is a link to one of their promotions. Manhattan Review - GMAT Classes, TOEFL Preparation, MBA Training, Admissions Help, Management Certificates, Business English & Chinese -Josh
  4. I hope wherever I ultimately go I can find someone to play Carnatic music with! I've played the veena for 6 years and I suspect jam sessions may be harder to come by in business school. Although, reading your profile, perhaps I am too quick to judge...
  5. Ralph, Thanks for the link. He does look legit, but I think I may also be in the market for some consulting services - I'm really being anal about getting everything right for the app - and his credentials in that category are unclear to me. I don't know if you're in the market for this sort of thing or not, but I mentioned MR before and have since followed up with them. They have a pretty exceptional guy doing their consulting service named Tom Kahn or Kania, I think: did admissions at Wharton or something and was ticking off all this experience to me on the phone. Nice guy too. As an entirely unrelated side note, I highly recommend "The Mirror" by Andrei Tarkovski, which I saw in some loft last night.
  6. Hello, I intend to apply to HBS, Sloan and MIT for a focus in IB. Does anyone have an opinion as to which is most successful in terms of job placement and which is the most difficult to get into? I'm guessing HBS...? Best, Josh
  7. Duuuude, lame - I hate the Gmat. So you prefer a class setting? Who did you use?
  8. Cheers Ralph, Thanks for the epinions tip. I've taken two practice tests and have hit approximately 700 each time, so my sense is that I may need some focused tutoring, although a class isn't entirely out of the question. I think the larger firms like Kaplan may not be what I am in the market for; my tendency is to look for smaller, personalized services, but I'll of course keep it in mind. I'm scheduled to be in NYC for the next few months for a job. Ralph, do you or anyone else know of any reputable Manhattan-based services? I spoke with a representative at Manhattan Review yesterday who seemed fairly knowledgeable - anyone have experience with MR (www.manhattanreview.com)? Best, Josh
  9. Hello, I just graduated Cornell last Spring where I majored in philosophy and have taken the subsequent time to reflect, read and do all the things a young man does before committing himself to the world of adults. In any event I am considering an MBA and need to begin studying ASAP. Does anyone have experience with GMAT test prep companies? I've never gone this route, but there's quite a bit at stake, especially in today's market. Best, Josh
