  1. George, as far as I know you have to be in your country to be able to obtain your student visa at the USA embassy. At least in Mexico you cannot mail your I-20 asking for the visa, you have to go and present all the papers in person and also for the interview. Cheers! Miren-Mexico
  2. I guess it depends on which field you are going into. I got into Harvard and Tufts (both programs in education-child development) with. V580 Q560 AWA 5 TOEFL 273 Besides GRE scores are just one part of your overall profile. I would concentrate more in writing a sound application that shows your uniqueness and assets you have that can contribute to enriching the program. Good luck
  3. Ira, It is time to take a break and have some good laughs. See it the other way, they lost a good opportunity to have you in their student body :=)
  4. Hey I got accepted by 2 universities so far but the results of the financial aid are taking for ever and I have to reply within 10 days if I will attend. In fact some of the outside funding I applied for will give out results in May. Is it possible to send the deposit to both, so I keep my spot and decide later on???
  5. As far as I know, TA possitions are mostly given to Ph.D. students. I suggest you email the department directly and ask.
  6. I applied for Masters, I the results from the fin aid are not yet avaliable. I really hope I get funding, other wise I would be in deep trouble. My recommendations were from: - University professor in Mexico City (I published a couple of artilces with him) - University professor at Boston College (I was an exchange student there 7 years ago) - Representative of the Japanese Government incharge of organizing exchange programs world wide, I participated in two. One was specifically directed to education.
  7. What a messssss!!!! I can totally understand how you feel. From what I know the departments make recommendations to the admn commette and the grad school makes the final aproval, but I have been told that this is just a formality, they are usually accepted if they were recommended. And taking long to review the transcripts....does not make sense to me.... I advice you to go and do something you really enjoy for the rest of the weekend, rent a movie that will make you laugh. Laughing sooths your body and generates some types of endorphins that make you feel good. Receive good vibes from Meixco.
  8. sure Arjun, I am a Mexican young woman. GRE 1st attempt V370/Q470/5AWA GRE 2nd and final V560/Q560/4.5 AWA TOEFL 273 I have studied in Mexico all my life, my undergrad degree is in communications and graphic design (3.8 gpa). Aside from the "office work" I have done, I have participated in several projects with a social orientation, mostly involving children-arts.(some of which I have financed myself). My thesis titled "Photography as a tool to understand communities in transition" has been cited in 2 magazines. (USA and Kenya) I have published articles both at a local and international level. I have been chosen to represent my country in 2 international forums sponsored by the Japanese Government=lots of friends from around the world. OK enough talking about my self. If there are other things you would like to know concerning application process or else, let me know.

  11. Hello! good morning. Here is the deal, I have applied to 2 different programs one at Harvard and the other one at Tufts (education and child development), at the moment I have been accepted at Tufts and would like to talk about differences of the two programs with the director of the department at Tufts and viceversa, to see which one fits better my needs but I do not know if it is appropriate to do so. To discuss openly that I am interested in these 2 programs and their advice...will they be offended if I mention the other university??? Help!?
  12. They send both scores. Make sure they get to the appropriate department of the school, because I had trouble with that. Good luck.
  13. Hello everybody! I am wondering if any of you know, specially you David what is the way Harvard sends out the acceptance-rejection letters to international applicants. I am wondering if it is email, snail mail or FedEx???? Thanks
  14. Hello, good morning. Does any of you have got news from Harvard???, do you know their politics on how they send out results to international applicants? (email, FedEx or snail mail???)
