  1. Hi there, I scored a 660 today in the second GMAT Prep test with Q 45 V 35, i want to ask u as my test approaching can i expect a similar score in test, i have given most of the tests under strict conditions and now i am not struggling wid time in q which was happening earlier....hey i am not feeling nervous...is it bad....and tell me some tips for the test day, i am feeling confident but after going through some debriefs it looks like the Gmat has become very tough.....
  2. thanx alot campanella, i am trying to be as rigurous as i can, and tell u what just yesterday i scored 650 on gmat prep q 43 and verbal 37...best part is only a few about 3 or max 4 questions got repeated in quants and i got the first couple of qyestions rong.....i feel much better now and will give another prep tomorrow...u r rite in saying that i should practice questions rather than looking at concepts and thats wat i am doing.....just i am really confident in verbal but no matter what i cannot feel confident in maths and mock up easy questions...thanx for the material ill now look at it....i must say campanella u have been a great help and a matter of inspiration for me....now I go into the test not thinking of whether ill get 600 but that ill do my best and the result will take care of itself....thanx a million...
  3. hi there, i am following ur tactics but the thing is i am struggling at the start of the quants section. I am getting at least 5-7 of the first 10-12 questions incorrect, which is dipping my score appreciably. I feel am not able to get into the quant section efficiently and it takes me time to get the problems correct. Once I am through the quants and get into verbal my accuracy increase alot and more or less i get 5 to 7 early verbal questions correct. So any suggesions for getting efficient in the quant section. I have my test on 26th and am scoring regularly 590 or 580 and i want 620 or more and i feel it is these first few quants questions which are hindering my progress. So on the test day what should i do so that I can get off the blocks quickly in quants? plzzz advice as am unable to cope with this thing.
  4. This is great u know i was thinking how was your test and jus checked it. am following your method from the last couple of days and will continue to do so till 25th of may. i have my test on 26th and i scored a dismal 460 in my first attempt.....if I core even 640+ ILL BE OVER THE MOON....tell me what you did a couple of days before the test, rigurous studies or normal practice? My scores in kaptest and Gmat prep have been between 550 to 650, 5 kaptests averaging about 560 and 8 gmat prep about 600....can u suggest how to get this score up, am struggling to get into 40s in quants, verbal is in mid 30s and i feel confident in that......great performance mate brilliant
  5. Thanx mate thanx a lot for the help ill be giving a kaplan online test on wednesday and surely would let u know how I went....tell me In gmat prep I have given it a few times and ques repeat and am scoring 590 - 650, in the kaplan tests no repeats am scoring like 550 to 590 not getting to 600, although it sounds a weired question but how about the real test...if some1 is scoring in these ranges on the tests i mentioned 5 kaplan and 6 gmat prep then what you would expect from him in real test...I know its hard with all the factors but with experience what can you say where do I lie...averaging 35-40 in quants and 33-37 in verbal...
  6. hey mate do not worry at all, i scored a 460 after scoring a 550 in gmat prep in nov i gave the real gmat, needed just over 500 couldnt do it and u know i never felt so distrought and lonely. I gave the test on nov13th and found testmagic the next day, u can see my post of my horrible experience. I tell u the positives u have - 1 u have gone through the real stuff so be sure u wunt be as nervous as u wud have been that day, i was shivering at the entrence, i know u were confident before the test but the whole experience is overwhelming for a debutant. 2 am sure ur putting in that extra yard which Gmat requires, as for me i thought the gmat would not be realy tough but it demands clarity of thought and concepts from the test taker and am sure u must have realised it by now. 3 You would be reasonably calm and confident. I assure you a 50 point increase in score even if u wouldnt have studied a single word till your next test, just on the sheer fact of ur experience of the test. so be calm and confident and u will master the test. btw am gonna give a second shot on may 26th so as you beat me by 10 points last time around I will be looking forward to your score this time...good luck and do not worry GMAT is not the end of the world
  7. hi lost into wild...magnificent score...congrats people like me can just dream of such a score....if u have time plzzz guide me as I am sure i am in a somewhat same boat like you. Difference is that I gave gmat real in Nov last year and got a shocking 460, but after that i started prep in feb this year and after 2 weeks when I gave the gmat prep I scored 540....so the thing is u r rite about keeping your cool in the test which I did not do in my 1st attempt. Also i gave that real gmat without any prep or mock test as i needed just 520 odd.....and I think thats y i flunked. Things have moved on since then, I saw this forum after my test and have been attached to it, I have been prep for my next attempt which will be in 5 weeks time, since feb . I am scoring 590 to 640 max in gmat prep, now I want 660+ in real gmat. mY BIGGEST PROB IS QUANTS. i HAVE GONE THROUGH og10, kaplan 800 and quant review OG. plus the manhatten quants books. Can you suggest me how to score consistently over 40 and between 42-47 in quants. I am hovering around 40 ..... i know verbal will be really tough but I feel if i can score 44+ in quants I am well on my way t my dream score of 660 beyond. 1 more thing I had been doing well on CR but in the last kaplan online test I gave i bombed in CR getting 3 of 14 correct, when I checked the explanations I was shocked as I should have got half of them at least correct, thing is when I see long CR questions with a lot of stuff I get nervous, what to do? I know this is a long post but kindly help me here....thanx
  8. hey thats a tremendous score, can you or any of the peole out here throw some light on the kaplan tests. I have not taken any and i am scared of taking it as it may demoralise me as I have been scoring in the range of 590 to 650 on gmat prep. Should I go for the kaplan tests, I have got 8 of them wid me as I hav taken coaching from kaplan, i am aiming for 650+ so what say?
  9. Hii all, I am really confused and need all you people to throw some light on this. I gave a gmat prep test today and scored 590 (Q37 v34) nothing unusual but when I reviewed the test I was amazed. In quants I got 9 of the first 15 Questions incorrect and thereafter I got 21 correct answers in a row before falling at 37 the last one. Now my question is if I would have got most of my first 15 questions on quants correct and stuttered in the middle, would I still have got 37 in Quants.? Thing is suppose I got 21 in a row correct from Q3 to 24th Question, even then would I have got a same scaled score, provided other things remained same? Is it not that the first 15 questions really does matter on the Gmat? Plzz do put in your inputs.
  10. yes thanx alot guys i am with u all it has to be E but just wanted to confirm coz the OA was given as A
  11. A jewelry dealer initially offered a bracelet for sale at an asking price that would give a profit to the dealer of 40 percent of the original cost. What was the original cost of the bracelet? (1) After reducing this asking price by 10 percent, the jewelry dealer sold the bracelet at a profit of $403. (2) The jewelry dealer sold the bracelet for $1,953.
  12. i think these are the questions from OG11, if am not wrong any ways - 1 c, 2 e, 3 d, 4 A, 5 E, 6 e, 7 B, 8 d, 9 b, 10 a, am sure u must have got a few of them correct if you need explanations in all or just a few.
  13. . If x and y are nonzero integers, isx/yan integer? (1) x is the product of 2 and some other integer. (2) There is only one pair of positive integers whose product equals y. plzz explain the anser as well OA (A)
  14. Guys forgot to tell you, i gave the second gmat prep test and got to 560, so improving agin, gave the test on 31st so will be giving one more soon, GMAT121, just go through the points i mentioned above, i gave gmat without any prep at all and got 460, do not know about you, if you can tell me how you prep before your gmat test, then i can surely help you in how to get that thing sorted out, for starters you are married with kids so i take you will around 16 hrs a week to study? is it. Then first of all look at your weak points, i take it from your score that its verbal. As i went for manhatten quants i am sure its verbal books would be a smash hit too, so you need to go through those and immidiately after that just give a gmat prep test, thats what i did...i am sure you will beat me in that score.
  15. Now Gmat 121, no prob if you got a 450, you can surely get that up with thorough prep. Some points that I have learnt after giving my gmat and going through testmagic have been as follows, and i guess they are really crucial in me now feeling extremely confident on cracking gmat in a few weeks time... 1 You cannot just sit for the test and hope that it will be a cakewalk or should i say you cannot take gmat test for granted. Do so at your own peril. That is what i did the first time around. I did not give any moc test, no coaching just about two weeks of normal maths and english studies, no OG or any special gmat material and went for the test with a quarter heart. Result is all to see. 2 What my assesment says, after going through the journeys of gmat of many people here, and I may be incorrect, is that you have to give yourself time to get to that crechendo. You wouldnt score even 600 just by sitting in the test or else you need to be a genious which I am not. An average 8 to 10 weeks of studies and moc tests with the exact material that your aptitude needs is at least reqd to score big in the test. 3 Treat every test like the life depends on it. Yes mate its the gmat, i am a huge sports lover so i state gmat as the world championships for me. When you are preparing and while giving moc test. Treat every second of your involvement with gmat preperation as if your life depends on it. Dont study just for the sake of it. Say if you have just 2 hrs to study in a day, just put everything into it and concentrate hard at what you are doing. Same goes for the moc test, while going through it, plzzz do not rush, take every question like the serve of pete sampras and answer them as if Andre Agassi is returning the serve. 4 Analyze your weak areas and immediately find the best solution. Easier said than done, and who can agree more than me, I was getting hammered by the simplest of quants questions, until one of the people on testmagic helped me by refering me the manhatten quants book, which is a dream for anybody who is struggling with the most basic of quants. Thank you shereen. Now i am more confident in quants than verbal. But this took me nearly two weeks to find. Thats what i mean, first you need to know where you are lagging behind and find the material which could help you. Then just go through it, i mean just drink it. 5 Sketch out a clear cut study plan. Yep but am not setting any deadlines as such. Just plan out what you have to study and how long will it take you to complete that. I have mentioned the study material in earlier posts on this forum. I will go through just them and i suggest people to do the same. You need to know which are the books that are most necessary for gmat and try to complete those comprehensively, am sure after that you will score well. Do not go for huge amounnt of materials....you need to know where you are good at and where you need real attention 6 PRACTICE, STUDY, PRACTICE, STUDY- Last but not the least, just practice as much as you can, esp CR and Quants and go through the main material in order to absalutely grast every inch of it and am sure anyone can get 700+.
  16. Hi everyone, ravi i tried to give kaplan a shot but it has demerits...i have given gmat real once and it is a replica a clone or whatever synonym you can use but gmat real is exactly the same as gmat prep....i suggest everyone that they should look at gmat prep only for practice tests and prep hard with the materials i mentioned above...kaplan is tough but the way the test is i mean the interface is totally different from what you will get on real gmat and here is where gmat prep can be your best friend on the test day. you will not feel overawed by the interface of the real gmat if you have taken sufficient (at least 8 to 10, once a week) practice tests on gmat prep.
  17. Welcome people aboard...just to get you going...whatever little input that i can give is the following books are a must to be completed by heart in order to win the world championships... 1 OG 11 2 CR Bible 3 Manhatten SC they are just mandatory...and if any of you are falling way behind in maths with the very basics of it, then they should go for manhatten quants....it has just given me a new lease of life....so to speak....hey guys do share hows the prep goin on....
  18. i am wid u mate i think it has to be B....what is the oa
  19. I second the above opinion...allot specific time and days for each section, practice as much as u can...i got so discouraged on getting 460 that i couldnt stand up to anyone but at that point I had testmagic...this site has really encouraged me in all respect...I can bet you can score beyond 650 in a month, just that you need to put in the hard miles. Apart from the books mentioned above, you can go through manhatten books, they were really helpful for me in quants and its SC is pretty nice...the CR Bible you need to learn by heart and when you are through with basics, try to solve simple questions like doing the diagnostic test of OG....do not go through OG for the sake of it as that is where I sunk and got a 460 in nov....you need to improve and take it step by step.... I guess you need to make a timeframe of about 12 weeks before you go for the test. RC i think go through OG passages and try to grasp the explanations...do not go for answering questions instead just try to understand how it works. Then start doing small RC passages from OG....plzz do the small ones first...also you can take help of Manhatten verbal books... SC again manhatten, learn the rules by heart...that is where am starting from next week.....and as i said for CR nothing better than the bible.... remember Gmat is all about persevearence...the more hours you will put in...better you will be....
  20. hi there...hey commiserations to you but ur not alone...check my post, i got a 460 in Nov, but unlike you, decided to back off for a couple of months and am off and running again.... i am looking at 700 and currently in prep....let me know what all your weak points are and may be we can both make it to the 700 club in a couple of months...one advice, as for me i have realised getting 700 is not at all tough but you need to work hard and be deligent over a period of time and consistently score well in order to reach there....for me its a 12 week regime...let me know how you went second time around and what are your plans....
  21. i think its c, coz its given that x is even and if we equate the equation we can write 4^2=4*4, that is x is 4....i dun think 0 is regarded as an even number...
  22. i do not think 0 is the least even number...i may be rong and hence for x^2 to be equal to 4x, the value of x has to be 4, so c is the answer from me
  23. i think it should be b, can u explain y its E, since x has a power of 3 and its always greater than y^4, then x will always be positive and if x^3>y^4 then x have to be greater than y....am i rite or rong?
