  1. It looks like you need to focus a little more on the verbal. I've personally seen that the McGrwhill 2009 book has good pointers on what to look out in verbal. I picked it up from my city library, maybe you can do the same. Read the verbal section, understand every bit of what the book is trying to teach you. And lastly do every single question in the book. All the best.
  2. Apple, if you get the chance pls go thru the verbal section in McGrawHill's GMAT book. I found it to be a little more informative and useful than Kaplan. No really, I did. What killed your score is the verbal so pls put some more effort in the verbal section. Learn to fast read thru the passage questions. That's another killer, takes away a lot of your time.
  3. You guys are really supportive and positive. Thanks y'all !
  4. Well..thanx :)...I hope someone can tell me if my quant score is too low. Anyway, so I've been preparing for the GMAT for 6 months now. Yea, it took 6 mnths because I work full time and also a game addict. I'd say about 3 months hard work is more than enough to make it through (atleast for many). I did not spend any money on books. Just took it from our city library. I did however spend 250$ on the Kaplan Question Bank. It helped a bit, but not a lot. The day of the test was great. (Oh I had one attempt before this but I didn't even complete it, cancelled my scores). One very important thing I should be telling future test takers is to keep reminding themselves to "move on". Its very very easy to get stuck on one question that looks easy but can't figure out the answer. I had the same problem, so I kept telling myself "move on move on"....the clock runs out much faster than you think ! So that's my biggest advice to anyone, do NOT spend too much time on any question..."move on"...else you will see yourself struggling towards the end. I think my biggest advantage was doing the Kaplan books and the McGrawHill books. Do ALL the questions in the book. Its worth the pain. All the best to every future GMAT taker.
  5. I got q46 (which is 77%). I'm wondering whether all colleges pay close attention to the q scores (individual scores) or the overall gmat score? What about q46...is it competitive? I'm thinking of applying to boston univ, northeast...carnegie...and so on. Please advice if my q score is too low. Thank you.
  6. I spent nothing on books. Just borrowed from the library. I found the Kaplan and McGrawHill books really helpful. Another helpful thing (I personally felt it was ok, not excellent) is the Kaplan Question bank. That's 250$. I won't say that is worth it. Not at all. Make sure that you do every single question in the books though. Was really helpful for me. Anyway, so I just completed my GMAT today. I got an unofficial score of 720. Not bad, but my math was 46 (77%) so I'm a bit dissappointed.
  7. Hi all, I just finished my exam today. I got a 720 with q46(77%) and v42(95%). Now I'm worried whether my individual score (for quant) is too low to get into a good college? I'm aiming for colleges like Boston Univ, Northwest, Noreast, Carnegie. Pls advice. Are individual scores considered to be admission breakers? Thanks for your time!
