  1. Well thanks, its the advice i am looking for specifically right now ;) if u know wat i mean :p' Thanks buddy
  2. 1. Set A: {15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21} Set B: {10, 11, 12, 13, 14} This is of the form B= {n, n+1, n+2, n+3,n+4}, A={n+6,n+7,n+8,n+9,n+10,n+11} every number from A to be added with B. Just add the first number in A to all numbers in B (we will have 5) and it will reach till n+10, so add n+10 with all numbers in set B (we have anoth 5 numbers) now. Finally add the last number from set A to last number from set B, so totally we will have 5+5+1=11 unique numbers. 2. For these kinda problems we have a formula, hard for me to remember its almost 8 yrs since i did math. But if someone can post tht formula we can derive from there... 3. Not much interest in probability sorry :-)
  3. Yep you are right dude, in my calculation i totally forgot about the last 7^20 factor. I just calculated until 7^19. You are right, i recalculated it and the remainder is indeed 1. Thanks for correcting me...
  4. Thanks guys... yep, as u said, i jus started my digging :-)
  5. Hi , I am interested in pursuing a degree in MS Financial Engineering (some univ call it Computational Finance), not sure how to go about this. Any insights??? Should I take GRE or GMAT, any subject GRE will help ? approx score for Ivy league ?? Any help in this regard is highly appreciated... Thanks
  6. Anybody interested in group studies for subject gre... it has worked well with me but unfortunately am not finding partners for subject gre math ... mail me if intereted we wil chart out a plan...
  7. 1. If S = 7^0 + 7^1 + 7^2 +........ + 7^20, then Col A: The remainder when 'S' is divided by 14. Col B: 1 s= 1+7+49 +343 +....the last 2 digits are the same for powers of 7. So the last 3 digits of 7^0 + 7^1 + 7^2 + 7^3 would be 100... the summation till 7^20 would therefore have the last 3 digits as 500. Which when divided by 14 becomes 10 (14*35=490) so remainder is 10 which is greater than 1. Golddust claims the answer is 1 because he is diving by 7 and 7 will divide all powers f 7 except 7^0 which is 1. But we are not dividing by 7 but by 14 and powers of 7 do not have 2 as its factor so his claim is incorrect.
  8. 15 * 40 * 160 = (2^3)*(4^x)*(5^y), then find the value x+y? something is wrong in this question because there is a factor of 3 which cannot be added to 4^x or 2^x or 5^y. Can you please check the question again...
  9. f(n) = [(-1)^n]*c*n can be written as c * n(-1)^n, since c >0 f(n) would be +ve for even values of n and -ve for odd values of n. Also, f(7) so f(2)- f(3)=20, solving this equation we get c=4. f(4)=4*4*(+1)=16, so A and B are same
  10. another meaning for arrant is "complete" so the antonym would be partial.... however ur question is valid cause arrant would also mean to be unqualified, but wise persons neednt be qualified always, so partial would be the right answer.
  11. There is another meaning for Foilble which is a behaviour, a mannerism. There is a behaviour and that is bad, base. There is a mannerism but it is bad. Similarly there is tatters (pieces of cloth) and it is worn. I would choose C. The confusion here (IMO) is we should not consider the weaker part of sword meaning for fioble. I would choose C.
  12. its C or D but not sure how to choose between these 2. But I would go with D, because pillory is not just chide but also a degree more in severity, jus like mollycoddle is over indulgence, a degree more of humor.
  13. A "PEDANTIC" fellow is ERUDITE similarly A Lethargic fellow can be Apathetic A Saucy fellow can be Outspoken A Dull fellow can be Soporific A Shrill can be Piercing My answer would be D Soporific: Dull, why not its also in the league. Maybe the question is wrong, identify which is NOT true so the answer would be penniless: pressed
  14. Can anyone post comments about any one book that would cover all the topics of subject gre in math. Jus started preparing for phd in math ... thanks a ton... any book tht i can buy frmo a second hand shop or free downloads ,...
  15. plz plzzz post the answers dude otherwise wats the point...
