  1. Does U Chicago have a standard taxtbook?
  2. How do you guys think of Berger & Casella?
  3. Hi all, I am looking for a useful and cost-effective econometrics textbook for the first year of a top PhD. I tried Hayashi, but felt difficult to get started. Do I indeed suck?:hmm: Any other books to recommend?
  4. Is real analysis really that important? I don't know how much I should learn about real analysis? What role does it play in grad courses?
  5. I am looking for a real analysis textbook. Any recommendations? :hmm:
  6. I told you my penis is longer. How come most of you guys didn't believe me! You see, Chicago is the first, first, first!!! Hooray!
  7. Chicago has just won the Nobel in 2007, how bad can they be right now. You figureed out Chicago sux because of the recent placement history? If that's the case, the outcomes are really really too arbitrary!
  8. Well, I dare not say anything but that Northwestern is by no means in the top 5 or even top 10...:hmm:

  10. Chicago Harvard MIT Yale Princeton Stanford U Penn Berkeley Northwestern NYU Checking many world-recognized rankings would convince you its validility.
  11. So who else is going to Chicago without being funded? Just want to get more friends.
  12. More often than not, it would be very difficult to get good recommendations. Also you should consider the opportunity cost. Doing this means you will have to sacrifice two extra years. Assuming you successfully graduate from a top school, you will still have to lose 80k*2 or something.
  13. This year really seems to be unusual. Many top schools are like on the edge of bankruptcy!
  14. But correct me if I am wrong, but Gary Becker won it a couple of years ago...
