Hey guys it seems your prayers paid off. My final score Listening -- 27, Writing -- 26(structure 13,essay 4.5), Reading --30 = 277(total) So guess I am home as I needed at least 263.

Hey guys sorry for the late response. Well one thing that surely helped me for the test was listening to the TOEFL cassettes from Barons.Also I got hold of a Voice and Accent Manual from a call centre(where ppl from the US call) and actually went through it, so I was comfortable with the american way of speaking the english language. What I would suggest... is be on the lookout for attention drops during the long conversations .....(they can be quite boring) and when the question is asked atlast... u r stumped. Cheers

Hi Sunxcat, I am going to apply for spring now as the deadlines are over. Sorry could not reply sooner as I changed jobs and have restrictions on net access. Did not write my own recos finally.But gave the teacher the reco samples and he wrote and sealed it. Donno what he has written. Cheers

OOOOOhhhhffffffff!!! finally its over.[b)] I was quite woried about my TOEFL as I had a really bad verbal score in GRE. 500. I dont know whether the final score is going to be good or not,but at the moment I can atleast hope that its going to be good. :p Well speed was not a problem on the exam till I came to the last section, I could not complete my essay in the given 30 minutes.:( How bad a grade can an incomplete (but on the right track) essay get ?

Hey having a very robust vocabulary is no guaranteefor a >700 score. It depends how you pace yourself,what is your frame of mind while taking the test and many other things, to a certain extent luck also plays a part.So work hard on a regular basis to improve your vocabulary but also take a lot of mock tests. I had gone through the word lists and didn't find any unknown words in the exam but I did not pace myself correctly and hence paid the price.Even after knowing the alternative meanings of words found it difficult to establish relationship between words in the analogy section as I had not practised for them thinking that a good vocab was more important. Hope this suggestion would help you.

Sorry could not reply earlier. Well I have got the marksheets attested from the schools.This is a relief moreso as I am staying in a different city from the one that I passed out from. Sunxcat I got your email.Thanks a ton.i have applied to a few universities iit being one nmsu another.I have also applied to wichita upon the insistence of one of my relatives as he said he would pay for the application fees there.Hence I applied online and gave him the userid and password and it seems he has paid the application fees. I am going to send the relevant documents now. Lets hope for the best. Bye

Hey Sunxcat thx once again for replying, a few samples of recos would be gr8.Please do drop them in my mailbox.I have got the attested copies of marksheets lying with me. I also had the impression that they should do but certain unis stated clearly we dont want photocopies, most probably they will make allowances for countries like India. Cheerz

Hi, UUSLC requires $45(domestic) or $65(international) as application fees. Nevertheless thanks for the information. Some universities are asking that official transcripts to be sent directly to the university.Indian universities at least my university doesn't have such a feature they can reissue a transcript if you loose the original but nothing like sending your scores to a university in the U.S. Please suggest. Some schools explicitly mentioned that photocopies would not be entertained. Also one of my profs has asked me to write the reco myself, I am at a loss there and searching the web for resources.

Thanx for the second list of schools. iit,Minnesota state university at mankato,Wayne state university and New mexico have reasonable fees. Could anyone grade them for ms(cs) please ? What are my chances for getting into them ,is anyone of them a dream university for my score or are they all within my reach? thanx for the help.

Hi I just got the AWA from one of my relatives who called up ETS. its a 4 Why do you think theres no point doing it from Wichita ? The reason I am confused is on the net all the universities look gr8. By the way fsu is really costly.So is ucr. uic I am not too sure but its abt $8965 per sem of 12 or over hours.but if its the yearly total fees then thats a gr8 place to go. Please help . How does university of minnesota sound ? thx for the help

Well if I can get admission into a decent school with my scores then rather than retaking the exam I would concentrate on the other aspects of my application. But if I have no chance of getting in with my scores then obviously I have to retake the GRE. So what I am looking for are places I can apply to with my pressent score as well as places where I can apply if I retake and improve the scores. Thx for the information on the universities I can apply to with present score.I will check their websites right now. By the way how does Wichita State University sound ?Someone suggested it to me said that its a safe school with my scores. Bye Thx for the support

Thx Tim, Hey all deadlines close by march end and since I am in india the scores come in so late. Could you also give me a list of colleges I can apply to for MS(comp sci)if I get a score of V-560-600 and Q-770-800.This way I can put in their codes for score reporting and proceed with my application. Hi everyone, I intend to get admitted to MS(Comp Sci) in a godd-decent university this fall. But I am disapointed with my verbal score and to a certain extent my quant score as well. Should I retake the GRE? If not suggest a few universities where I can apply and get financial aid. The application process seems to be so confusing...i dont have a credit card,how can I apply online as most of the deadlines are near.
