  1. Thank you all for contributing! liamc, you're right. I'll just add that, if you choose to not to receive print copies of AER, JEL, and JEP, which is reasonable especially if you have digital subscription through your school anyway, then you pay $8X3=$24 less. That is only $11.
  2. I think it's great. Although I'm not a member (yet). Anyway, thanks for sharing AREStudentHopeful! FWIW, links for 2011 and 2009: 2011 AEA Annual Meeting Sessions & Continuing Education Webcasts 2009 AEA Annual Meeting Sessions & Continuing Education Webcasts
  3. Hi Folks, I thought it would be nice to see academic economists in action. Especially the most successful ones. To see how they present their work, motivate it, defend it, etc. The only place for this is a seminar room in an economics department. But not always you get your 'favorite' economists presenting at your school. So videos should help. (And I don't mean public speeches or lectures here.) The problem is, I guess nobody is filming these presentations. If there are exceptions, I'd be happy to know. Otherwise, the thread would probably be a good place to discuss the 'art of academic presentation' in general.
  4. I got accepted at IUB on March 27, but with zero funding. I will be declining it soon.
  5. Thanks Dr. Who. Yes, I am chasing the money offer. Good luck! thursday
  6. Got acceptance at IUB without funding. E-mail from DGS on March 27.
  7. Institution: Indiana University-Bloomington Program: Economics Decision: Accepted Funding: Nothing Notification date: 3/27 Notified through: E-mail Comments: Thankful, but cannot afford unfunded studies.
  8. Hi, YE! Do you refer to someone in particular in your question? Well, generally, no one, I guess, is gonna accept an offer without knowing all the other options (including myself).
  9. happylittleh, Thank you for your input! And good luck in your future studies, whatever the program you end up with! :)
  10. Congratulations, happylittleh! Actually, I was the one to post on GradCafe. So, thank you very much for sharing this. And, you're right: they're not completely done... According to some insider info, decisions are yet to come this week. If you don't mind me asking, are you American? Was the e-mail personalized? Are you going to accept? Thanks, thursday
  11. Thanks for the link, untitled. A short synopsis of the discussion on that board (very similar to the comments posted here): Mild winter, but too hot and humid summer; cheap, but not bad food; reasonable prices for housing; a car is needed, most likely... Anyone about UH econ PhD, as an academic program? i.e. profs, environment, etc.
  12. Actually, Houston is the 4th largest. :p Anyway, thanks for your input, guys!
  13. Congratulations, my potential classmate! :) I don't know much about UH, except what is available on their website...Their comparative advantage is in international macroeconomics, I suppose? What else can I say? Don't know... Insiders info would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Same here for UMD: not recommended for admission... Now, Indiana, come oon, I know you love me... :p Has anyone on TM heard from them so far?
