  1. good work....adi..... Just want to add some more things regaring the Subjunctive mood. In this question, command subjunctive is used, conveying urgency by the word necessary. Other such words are important, mandatory, preferable, urgent, vital, desirable, crucial, advisable, fitting, imperative......
  2. Can u please explain in detail.....??? If you negate the point C) then it becomes Legislation has [removed not] been recently passed to make legal bankruptcy easier to obtain. Then it is hard to say the premise that "bankruptcy lawyers are busy", And if they are not busy then the economy is entering a phase of growth and prosperity. This makes hard to make the conclusion that media claim is false. Having said that it can be the case that bankruptcy is easier to obtain, but there are lot many number of bankruptcy cases. So the lawyers are busy. And if they are busy then the conclusion survives. So i feel that C) i not an assuption as even if we negate C then its not clear that the conclusion survives or not....... While in case of B) If we negate B) then it becomes. Economic growth can[removed not] be measured in terms of productivity. So the media pointing to increased productivity is evident that Economic growth is present which makes hard for the conclusion to survive.
  3. E) is redundent as being is the word used here..... this word is most of the time redundent in GMAT.... we can write "can be programmed" instead of "are capable of being programmed" Also "think like people do" the word do is implicit..... So my choice is D.
  4. As u have mentioned, In the argument it is given that it was known that being deficient in all the B-vitamins was sufficient to contract the disease beriberi Deficiency in all the B-vitamins is sufficient but not necessary. It means that if the person is deficient in vitamin B2 or vitamin B12 still it is possible that he might contract the disease. I would still like to know the OA.......
  5. A) cannot be the answer as it states that Individuals whose diets lack vitamin B1 will contract beriberi only if they have a generally unhealthy diet. In the argument it is never mentioned that the volenteers were given the unhealthy diet. But it is mentioned that the volenteers were on special diet deficient in vitamin B1 Also the last sentence of the argument is "However, recent human volunteers on special diets deisgned to lack vitamin B1 did not contract the disease.", which states that volenteers deficient in vitamin B1 didnt had (here contract is used as having the disease) the disease. So the option A) which states that "the person will have BERIBERI only if" is out of question. B) is the correct as it states that deficieny of vitamin B1 is not necessary for the person to get the disease. In the Argument second sentence states that the person will have the disease when he or she is deficient in all vitamins with vitamin B1 deficient in all the cases. while the last sentence in the argument states that the voluenteers didnt had the disease even though they were deficient in the vitamin B1.
  6. Imo with A...... The question is asking to substantiate the criticism about the seriousness of the organisation's commitment to speaking out on behalf of the needs of economically disadvantaged elderly people. This criticism will be strengthened or substantiated when the answer choice will state that The organisation consisting of "X" type of people will only think or care for the same type of people and not for 'Y' type of people. Also the A) states that The ideology (way of thinking) of an organization tends reflect the traditional political climate of its locale. But I guess political climate doesnt refer to the argument.... whats an OA???
  7. I feel D is the answer. In the given reasoning, Author is supporting the concept of disbelieving in the set BELIEF without verfying the truth. In D) also the Author is supporting the concept of disbelief bout the existence of Yeti..... withhout verifying....
  8. The Assumption should add as a bridge between the premise and the conclusion OR it should strengthen the conclusion. Here to find the conclusion is slightly difficult, which is "The cliam that the economy is entering a phase of growth and prosperity is false" So the assumption that "Economic growth cannot be measured in terms of productivity. " strengthens the conclusion that the claim of media is false.
  9. Imo is C) B) is mot the answer as it is too extreme..... it states that there is no other way to determine whether a chicken is infected with the Lofgren’s disease virus before the chicken shows symptoms of the disease. But there CAN be some techniques to identify weather the chicken is infeted with lofgren's disease or not..... While in C it clearly states that failure to observe the disease doesnt mean that the disease is not present.
  10. I think we should first clarify what is circular justification???? Justification of the argument is cicular when: 1) A particular deductive inference is justified by appeal to the valid premise. 2) The validity of a premise is justified by appeal to the way in which particular deductive inferences are made. The justification of both the inference and the premise lies in their "being brought into argument with each other'. "A premise is amended if it yields an inference that we are un-willing to accept; an inference is rejected if it violates a premise we are unwilling to amend" bit confusing... but ponder on it... As mentioned in A) no circular justification is present as author's perception bout the freedom of speech is mentioned. ... B) out of question..... C) seems interesting as .....policy advisor is telling some "positive" things about the freedom of speech... basic human right openly aired, good idea flourish silly proposals are easily recognized dangerous ideas can be responded to by rational argument so we can say that policy advisor is talking about some "Moral ideals"..... Also in the sentence ........."Nothing is ever gained by forcing citizens to disseminate their thoughts in secret.", policy advisor is telling bout some gain or person's self-interest... So a a coupling of moral ideals with self-interest is provided..... D) noyhing bout truth is mentioned in theargument.... E) It might b a ideal situation but "I FEEL" it can be realistically and perfectly achieved....
