  1. Hi guys, I would like to know which university is a better option to do a MSc in Economics in order to use it as a bridge to apply to the top Ph.D's in Economics in USA. Both programs are two years long, and they look pretty similar to me. Which university is the most prestigious: Alicante or Frankfurt? Thanks for your opinions
  2. Back to the OP, which one of three books that i've mentioned is the best? D.Romer is a saltwater guy, but his book tries to be neutral and shows both schools, that is the reason why is widely used.
  3. Which is the best book for freshwater intermediate macro: Barro (1997) "Macroeconomics" + Matthias Doepke, Andreas Lehnert, and Andrew Sellgren (1999) "Macroeconomics" or S. Williamson (2007) "Macroeconomics" or Barro (2007) "Macroeconomics: A Modern Approach"
  4. I am interested in knowing which materials and textbooks are used at first year of ph.d and the undergradute at Chicago, I have checked the webiste of the teachers, but there is no too much info. this is what I found: Undergraduate: Macro: Barro - Macroeconomics Doepke, M., Lehnert, A., & Sellgren, A. (1999) - Macroeconomics (DLS) Graduate: Price Theory (Micro): MWG Jehle, Reny - Advanced Micro Theory Myerson - Game theory Theory of Income (Macro): Stokey et al. - Recursive Methods Sargent et al. - Recursive Macro Theory Quantitative Methods (Maths and Econometrics)? Any insider here? Anyone knows about Quantitative Methods? What else?
  5. How Saez can win if he isn't an american citizen?. He is French and US permanent resident but not citizen. The AEA says:
  6. This is the answer to my email: Then, it seems isn't open for international students even paying. Yes, I totally agree, the AEA is a private organization, then they can do whatever they want. I just think is a wrong policy and I am against postive discrimination. And It seems that isnot about just the scholarship. I think we are not a majority in Ph.D., the proportion is 60% US/40% int. The program in maryland is also just for US. Thenik, can you pass me the link for miami? bacteria, do you know more program beside the Moscow one.
  7. Hi guys, Have anyone who is an international student attend to the AEA Summer Training Program in the previous year? I have emailed the AEA for this year, and they told me that international students arenot elegible, just US citizens and permanent residents. It's not fair. Anyway, anyone knows other interesting Economic Summer Camps or Summer Schools more general to train you for Ph.D in economics.
