  1. For eg, number of numbers from 1-66 = (66-1)+1 = 65 Number of numbers from 2-66 = (66-2) + 1 = 65 (Greater number - Smaller number) + 1? Is this correct?
  2. Thanks, but I got confused when I looked at - available to a programmer. I felt its irrelevant and hence eliminated it.
  3. Still employing the system of binomial nomenclature devised in the 18th century by Linnaeus, new technology enables modern day biological taxonomists to not only classify species, but to sort their evolutionary relationships by an approach that analyzes the sequences of DNA. new technology enables modern day biological taxonomists to not only classify species, but to sort modern day biological taxonomists using new technology can not only classify species, but sort using new technology enables modern day biological taxonomists to not only classify species, but to sort using new technology not only in classifying species, modern day biological taxonomists are enabled to also sort them for when modern day biological taxonomists are enabled by new technology, not only do they classify species, they also can sort
  4. Gambling experts contend that with a sufficiently advanced computer technology, a skilled technician will soon be able to win almost every time he or she bets on horse racing. Yet such a claim could never be evaluated, for losses would simply be blamed on immature technology or the technician's lack of proficiency. Which of the following, if true, would be most useful as a basis for arguing against the author's claim that the gambling experts' contention cannot be evaluated? Some technicians using advanced computers have been able to gamble successfully more than half the time. Gambling experts readily admit that it is not yet possible to produce the necessary computer equipment. There is a direct correlation between the sophistication of computer technology available to a programmer and the gambling success he or she achieves with it. Certain rare configurations of computer data can serve as a basis for precise gambling predictions. Even without computer assistance, skilled gamblers can make a steady living from gambling. Please explain your answer.
  5. For the line with equation y=ax+b, ab not equal to 0, x intercept is twice the y-intercept Column A Slope of the line Col B 1/2 Arent they equal? Can anybody please explain?
  6. 7x^2=21 Col A - x Col B - 2 Shouldn't the answer here be D since x=+/- sqrt3?
  7. Total time taken by the three machines is 24/13. Since the fastest one is the one that takes least time and it does 1/4th of the work, answer is 6/13.
  8. n1/n2 = v2-vm/vm-v1 So the ratio will be, 9-15/15-19 = 3/2
  9. Yup, I got the answer as 802 too. Guess the answer given is wrong. Dont recollect which book I got this question from though. :)
  10. Time=Amount/Rate 4 can do 4 in 4 minutes 100 can do 100 in how many minutes ? In the first case, 4 can do 4 in 4 minutes implies, rate is 4/4=1 per minute. If the rate is 1 for 4 model computers, for 100 it is, 100/4=25 So Time for 100 model computers will be Amount/Rate = 100/25=4
  11. 1) If x+2Y =2 and (x+y)^2 =9, which of the following is possible values of y? Answer is 5 I know x^2 + 2xy + y^2=9, x(x+2y)+y^2=9, x(2) +y^2=9 But how do you get 5 from that? X+2Y=2 can be expressed as X+Y+Y, given (x+y)^2 =9, implies x=3 or x=-3. If you substitute x=-3 in x+y+y=2, you get -3+y=2, implies y=5 3) The buyer of a certain mechanical toy must choose 2 of 4 optional motions and 4 of 5 optional accessories. How many different combinations of motions and accessories are available to the buyer? a) 8 b) 11 c) 15 d) 20 e) 30 answer is e, 4c2*5c4 = 30
  12. I think the answer is D. If the circle is not passing through origin, not necessary that areas are equal, although it might be possible. Hence, the answer is D.
  13. Regarding -- 10. Given that 0.6 Col A: sqrt(x) --------- Col B: 0.73 --> I know that sqrt(0,6XYZ) is greater than 0,6XYZ but I don't know, if it is greater than 0.73 No need to find the square root here. By simple logic, Irrespective of what value x is, when x lies between 0 and 1, sqrt(x) > x So if we assume x is 0.68, sqrt x is > 0.68, but as per the condition x Hence, answer is A.
  14. A train with 90 km/h crosses a bridge in 36 seconds. Another train, 100 metres shorter, crosses the same bridge at 45 km/h. Find the time taken by the second train to cross the bridge. (a) 68 s (b) 62 s © 72 s (d) 64 s (e) 78 s First train -- Dis (Length) = Speed*Time -- 90*5/18*36 = 900m -- Convert km/hr in m/s Second Train's length - 800m Time = Distance/Speed = 800/(45*5/18) = 64s
