  1. Yes, I've heard that the NY MPJE is difficult. Good luck to you and hope you passed. I am taking it this week, and am trying to study for this. I feel that NY laws are very different than CA laws and they are very confusing like you said. Thanks for your input.
  2. Thanks for the response Jagr. I am only planning to use Dr. Cutie's notes and the Federal Law Book I mentioned above. So far, I feel that Dr. Cutie's notes are comprehensive and may be enough for me to study off of. Dr. Cutie has included some practice questions in his notes, which should be helpful when I am ready to try to answer them. I recommend you get Dr. Cutie's notes...you can order them online through his website where he offers the NY Law course. If you are not planning to take the MPJE soon, his next course is offered in June. Hope this helps!
  3. Has anyone taken the NY MPJE recently or taking it sometime soon? Just wanted to ask what is the best material to study for this exam. I am using Dr. Cutie's notes. I also have the Federal Law book by Reiss and Hall. Any other suggestions? Also, I am only giving myself 2 weeks to study for this. I am afraid that this may not be enough time to prepare for this exam, but I don't really have a choice at this point or else I would need to reschedule the exam. FYI- I have worked in CA for over 7 years, so I [pretty much know the Federal laws quite well (even though I will still review it again), so I need to mainly focus on NY law. Any advice will help. Thanks! :)
  4. Thanks for the info AashRX1980. I myself am studying for the NY MPJE which I will be taking at the end of the month. Do you have any advice on the best way to study for this? I just started reading over Dr. Cutie's notes today, and the pharmacy laws in NY are quite different than CA. I myself also took the old CA board exam, so studying for and taking the NAPLEX was a pain, but luckily I'm done with that part. It is a relief to know that I don't have to take the compounding exam. Unfortunately, I already paid for taking it this June, so I've lost about $200, but it's still nice to know that I don't have to take it. It is so sad that we have to go through such a long process to get licensed in NY even though we practiced in CA for so long.
  5. Hi Rakhi,

I did not use prontopass, but from others on this forum, I heard it is helpful. I am in NY and have just taken NAPLEX so far. Now I will take the NY MPJE next. I am a pharmacist who worked in CA for 7 years, and just moved to NY, so I have a lot of experience. I still had to study a lot, because experience helps only a little bit for the exam. Good luck on the NAPLEX!

  6. I know that I am required to take NY MPJE, but I was asking if I need to take the NY Compounding exam. I have called the NY State Board, but I do not get a clear response from them, so I wanted to see if anyone who was in a similar situation knew what to do.
  7. I have recently moved from CA and I want to get licensed in NY. I already took the NAPLEX and will be taking the NY MPJE soon. My question is that since I am licensed in CA and have worked there as a pharmacist for about 7 years, do I need to take the compounding exam or can I just apply for a license transfer? I am getting mixed answers, so if anyone is or was in a similar situation, I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks.
  8. Hi Anipat,

Are you in NY ? I am in upstate NY and have just started preparing for NAPLEX. Could you please let me know if prontopass is good. Also I want to know that did you take your NAPLEX without internship ? How difficult is the NAPLEX without intern experience.

    Thanks

    Rakhi

  9. I took the NAPLEX on Feb 22 in CT and received the results in a week and a half by mail.
  10. I used the 10th edition of Stoklosa and Ansel. I bought this back in 1999 when I was in Pharm School, so there must be many newer editions available.
  11. What is the best way to study for NY MPJE? So far, I have bought the Federal Law Book by Reiss and Hall, and I have ordered NY Law notes from Dr. Cutie. Is there any better source to study for the NY Law? Also, I am taking the compounding exam in June 2010. I wanted to know if there are any review books to study for this exam. Thanks.
  12. I recently took the NAPLEX at the end of Feb 2010, and I passed. These are the materials I used to study for the NAPLEX: For complete review, I read both the Kaplan and APhA books. The APhA book is more detailed than the Kaplan book, but the Kaplan book has excellent drug tables. I recommend reading both these books. The one downside is that both books do not explain the calculations well, so I used Pharmacy Calculations by Stoklosa and Ansel. This book really helped me understand the calculations. As I was studying, I tested my knowledge by doing review questions in the end of each chapter in the APhA book and by doing the questions in Lange Q & A book. I also like the practice test at the end of the Kaplan book. I also recommend taking the Pre-NAPLEX exam at least once, because this will give you a rough idea of what the actual exam is like. Hope this helps!
