  1. Historically it lasted 2 weeks, no idea about the class size Boston University Department of Economics http://people.bu.edu/yanglu/mathcamp/Syllabus2008.pdf http://www.bu.edu/econ/Orientation/ORIENT.F07/syllabus2007.pdf
  2. I'm also going to BU this fall, according to a work colleague who got his phd there I can confirm what ilikefreefood said BTW, i haven't received any information from BU as well other than the acceptance letter
  3. that is correct, he's one of the advisors of the finance ministry in Chile. Most likely he will spend more than one year there since the new government just took office a couple of months ago
  4. If you're going to Arizona, you should take a look at this: Arizona's immigration law: Hysterical nativism | The Economist
  5. my guess is mid august as well, last year it started on the 10th, 2008 on 12nd and 2007 on 18th. Boston University Department of Economics http://people.bu.edu/yanglu/mathcamp/Syllabus2008.pdf http://www.bu.edu/econ/Orientation/ORIENT.F07/syllabus2007.pdf
  6. great post asquare! thanks for sharing this
  7. @APj: Good luck with that! @Buster: Congratulations, see you there!
  8. @TomRod: I've already decided attending BU. Thanks for your excellent feedback and help, I've read pretty much everything you wrote about UT in TM, it was extremely useful, I'm totally convinced that UT is a great institution with a superb phd program, however BU fits better to my interests. Good luck everyone!
  9. finally I'm going to BU, thanks for all your help guys, anyone else going there?
  10. triple_sec, anectodically I've got three former work colleagues who are attending Yale, I usually talk to one of them and he has never mentioned anything about not feeling safe in New Haven. I've also seen a lot of pictures he has taken and the city looks boring as hell but beautiful. Congratulations for your excellent choice, good luck!
  11. really good compilation, I just wanted to suggest you to add some considerations (I'm almost sure there's none) about cultural differences. In some countries it is almost impossible for people to apply earlier because of the education system, grants and scholarships requirements (in my country you have to spend at least two years working for the governement in order to get a grant), etc these elements must be considered in order to measure correctly this gap you mentioned in which someone isn't connected to academia, maybe you are 26 but it's been only one or two years since you left college and not eight or nine just because your education system works in a different way
  12. sorry to read that add Georgetown to the list, still no word from them (neither yes/no/maybe)
  13. Attending: Boston U Other Offers: UT Austin ($), UCSC, ISU (wl $) Comments: happy!
