Heh guys i got 6 in essay!!! I owe this score to TestMagic. I would like thank TM for their guidance and motivation!!!! My essay topic was"are parents best teachers?".I guess the highlight of the essay were 2 statements:"It is a mother who teaches a child to talk and it is a father who holds a child's hand and teaches him to walk." there were 40 seconds left with conclusion left.I ended up typing "All in all, there is no better learning institution than home and no better teacher than parents!" but i guess i mentioned these only bcoz i got 6. neways thanks a lot TM cheers Mesh

I had pretty bad start since i had to guess on 2 to 3 listening section.My score is 223-277; Listening=25[V] reading=30:o structure=12-28[|)] i wanted tht higher limit more than 280.but i feel i am satisfied with this score taking into consideration tht i dint give any CBT on toefl and strted preparations 5 days ago. I cudd have improved litening score by concentrating harder.I think i lost points not coz i was bad at listening but i cudnt memorise the beginning part of long conversation. essay topic was parents are best teachers. i wrote according to the formula tht Erin had suggested. so expecting 5! i wud like to thank erin and others for the contribution .of the 5 days of preparation i spent almost 30 hrs reading test magic stuff.tht helped me a lot!thanks again Mesh

#102 Schools should ask students to evaluate their teachers. Do you agree or disagree? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Primary function of a school is to impart education to students by using teacher as the medium. Success of a school depends on the symbiosis between the students and their teachers. While a teacher has an authority over a student, it is also necessary that the students have their voice regarding their teacher's behaviour. So I agree with the view that the schools should ask students to evaluate their teachers. In schools where students are not given right to evaluate their teachers, it has been observed that the most of the teachers use their liberties to ill-effect by punishing certain students indiscriminately and by being biased to those students whom the teacher likes.For example, a jingoist teacher might treat students from foreign countries indiscriminately by punishing them even though they may not be worthy of that or by passing blunt comments. Certain teachers impose undue authorities over the students which could be detrimental to their liberties. In case of lack of communication between the students and the school management , these actions go unnoticed. When the school asks the students to evaluate their teachers, the school management will get proper feedback from the students about their teacher's performance. This can be done by forming student's committee wherein the representatives of the students would express the thoughts of the students about their teachers freely. This would tone down any malfeasance by the teachers and also would improve the teacher-student relationship. Though the formation of such committee for evaluation of teachers would prove beneficial to the school, care must be taken by the school authorities before handing away certain freedom to the students, since these powers could be misused by the students like blackmailing the teachers or being rude to them. All in all, if the school gives an authority to students to evaluate their teachers, with certain rules and guidelines, the school could truly be called as an abode of attaining education and liberties. hi this is myy first essay and i have my toefel within couple of days.i have gone thru dozens of sample essays in this section,but while actually writing it,i experienced quite a bit of problems.i cud finish this essay in 45 minutes.plz do comment on it! what is one of the most important decisions that a teenager will have to make? Why is it important? Every person's life goes through different phases and he has to make different decisions at every phase.When a person reaches an age of sixteen,he is said to be an adolescent or teenager.At this age,he has to make various decisions on higher education,family responsibilities,career,love life etc.Among these,I consider decison regarding the career as the most important decision he will have to make. Planning is always considered as the most effective way for achieving one's goal.If planning goes wrong,there is a very dim possibilty that a person would achieve his desired goal.Therefore a teenager has to plan his career properly because it is at this stage does he realise that he has to pursue an activity which will not only keep him independant but also give him means to fulfill his demands. A teenager comes across various fields in which he can pursue his career.For example,he has to choose from engineering,medical,law,arts,sports etc.Also when he has decided to take a particular field he has to narrow it down so that it fulfils his interest.When this is done,a teenager makes dedicated efforts to pursue his selected career. In some cases,it may so happen that a teenager is unable to decide properly as to which career he has to follow.This could happen because of ignorance,lack of confidence,peer pressure and other such reasons.This improper decision will ultimately have a far reaching effect in the person's future life.For example,my friend played basketball wonderfully well and had won many a matches singlehandedly during school days.Had he continued to show his interest in the game he would have been a great player.But instead, due to lack of proper planning and on his parent's insistence he took to law.Now, he feels extremely frustrated with his work due to lack of interest and at the same time he cannot change to basketball because it is too late. All in all, I consider that a teenager must think broadly and wisely before pursuing his career.This decision will not only affect his future a great deal but also make this world a better place for him to live in!

Does TestMagic has its own grad school ranking???It wud be very helpful if TestMagic puts up the rankings,if there is no such provision available! I would also suggest that test gurus should help in post-GRE counselling which I feel is more important than pre-GRE preparation! Bye, Mesh

im in quandary coz i think i got above average in A+Q which many feel to be crucial to get admitted in decent college(as far as Electronics engineering goes!)So much info has to be collected b4 i take a decision!BTW do u know ne top 50 colleges where i have good chance(for my field)? Hi TestMagicians, I got 2040 with a pathetic verbal score of 480(A=760,Q=800).But i think verbal was the best section I attempted and the experimental section was some essay(which i think isnt compulsory). Since I've been scoring 580-650 in verbal at home ,I dont know where i went wrong in verbal.I am doing my Bachelor of Engineering(BE)in Electronics in Bombay,India.And Ive heard tht most grad schools look for A+Q .....but my V being pathetic Ive been told to retake the test.But if i do,then I wud have to do so after oct under new syllabus. So ne suggestions from u will be helpful.(Honestly I dont want to retake esp under new syllabus) Bye mesh

Also do lemme know wheter experimental section has been taken off.I also heard tht nowadays more 3-D Games r asked in Analytical Section!That is bit discouraging since i have only 10 days for test and I have practised frm Barrons and bigbook which have only few 3-D problems!And if 3-D games do come wht shud be the approach? -Mesh
